ren, 21 May 2009I have some issues in my N82.My phone is just 2 weeks old. ... morewell, it's been said that the battery with the earlier firmware is a dissapointment and lasts only about 12 hours (my friend had the same experience). I have fw v31.0.016 (check which u have with *#0000#) and the battery lasts about 2.5 days which is still not as good as N958gb for example but it's enough. If you have firmware older then 30 you should definitely upgrade. Report back on how u did! On other issues i have no expertize and maybe people here can help u out!

ElSam, 20 May 2009okay, since many of you are still competing with N82 and N9... moreVery good point ElSam!Both devices are great & incomparable.Nothing to argue about. It's just a matter of choice on what we consumers would like to own. It's simple if u have the passion for photography,N82 is the answer, while N95 offers big screen & unique design with it's double slider feature. That's it!Both are great phones in their own rights.Peace!

aaron, 20 May 2009You should not say N95 8GB is best if you can't support it ... moreokay, since many of you are still competing with N82 and N958gb i think it's time for my assesement of both since i have both lined up here near my Msi Wind and have been using both for quite a long time now. I really Like both phones and i will tell you why.I will only name the pros, since you guys are good at cons:)
                    1) N958gb pros - a) big clear screen, b)8gb memory included c)gaming keys d)dual slide e)Larger capacity battery

                    2) N82 pros- a)xenon flash, b) expandable memory c)lens cover

Everything else like candybar/slider preference, keypad quality, jack position, speed of software.......... is all user opinion and can vary. But the facts are facts.
If you like photography you should go for N82, if you like big screen and 8gb is enough for you you should go for N958gb. Some people will even trade xenon for slider and some will trade better keypad for xenon. It's users choice and thats why i don't think you can declare a winner here. According to the Nokia's strategy of numbering, N958gb was the flagship, but since N96 was so screwed up, N958gb stayed on that position. If it's justified you decide by buying one or not. If you feel all the functions of N958gb are included in N82 - i congratulate you because you will save about 80-100 euros with the full retail price. Otherwise i would not advise against buying N958gb because i used it and it's really a great device. So that's my perspective on the matter. I hope the rumble about a winner will stop now! Regards!

N79 has a new firmware right now which greatly improves UI speed and performance. And the good thing is I think there are more forth coming firmware updates for N79. The N82 was not only slow but used to freeze as well when it was on v11 firmware. The processor is a fixed variable. And it happens that N79 indeed has a faster processor than N82. It is the firmware which controls the processor. That's why Nokia keeps on releasing firmware updates at least to their top of the line devices, for better overall hardware and software efficiency.

Will anybody pls stop calling the N82 as a mere 'camera phone'? Even the ripped off 6220 classic will overquality for the taxonomy as a mere camera phone. N82 is an all-one-device with a focus on imaging.

Hasan, 20 May 2009So maoy thanks to you. I also liked the N79 for good batter... moreThe dual CPU of N82/N95 is more suited to specific tasks like opening and running programs which require boost performance and/or 3D acceleration like Quake III, Resco Bubbles, Raging Thunder, and the like. On the other hand, the single CPU of N79/N85 is much more suited to day-to-day tasks like opening and running PIM applications, as well as most ROM applications. The N79 has a slightly faster CPU. Actually, N82's dual CPU doesn't necessarily mean 332MHz times two. It is only the single ARM11 332MHz CPU that handles all application processing. The other processor derived from the dual CPU is a DSP. It has nothing to do with applications processing but rather with telephony and anything about audio.

I also liked the N79 for good battery life, FM transmitter, FOTA, FP2 and much more. But I was anxious about the single CPU. Besides, I don't use the camera much. In average, I take a photo or video in a week and delete it after some day. So xenon would not be a so good feature for me. But which I really need is performance. Which is fast? N79 or N82? Pls help.

You should not say N95 8GB is best if you can't support it with facts. N95 8GB has no real advantage over any other Nokia all-in-one devices.
On the other note, I've found out the the camera and Xenon flash of N82 and 6220 classic are 100 percent identical. Unlike the cameras of N82 and N85 which have slightly different hardware specifications, those of the N82 and 6220 classic are totally the same camera. It's the same Carl Zeiss optics, Tessar lens, f/2.8 aperture, 5.6mm focal length and same Xenon flash. The only difference is the image results produced by both cameras. N82 has noticeably higher quality image output than 6220 classic. And the Xenon flash on N82 is also more powerful despite being same as 6220 classic. The differential factor, I guess, here is the software.
