Hi there, thnx for the post but i still got no luck. ive made sure nothings duplicated, ive got all my contacts from my sim copied to phone only once and still nothing.
its so ODD ! when i plug it into the pc suite it comes up with my msgs and displays names on my pc. ALSO when i just click call it calls the contact and displays name straght away too.. its really nothing big. but its a big pain in the ass...
info might help.
Infront of every number it says +61 which i think is standard for aus #'s. ?
and it only calls the number if i change the contacts number and put a +61 infront... Headaches !
:( this makes me want to sell it unfortunately..

I do not have a N82 (Not yet).
Maybe the phone number you enter in the contact book is the without country code number?
Maybe if you enter the phone number with country code the phone can recognise it?
e.g +6512345678 or 12345678
haha just guesing.

I experienced the same thing when the number only appears when I recieve an sms...try checking your contact list maybe the numbers have been duplicated...because if the numbers are duplicated the Number only appears and It doesn't display the NAME...I tried it and now everytime I recieve messages their Names show up

The black N82 is exactly the same as the Titanium N82 the only difference is the color, not sure 'bout the price though...I bought myself the titanium one last month and I'm loving it ever since it's a cool phone and I just simply Love it c",

Hey all,
As most of you have been reading i am the guy in Australia that has the n82 Chinese model (without wifi) The past few days everything on this phone has been fantastic.. i must say im more than impressed with the camera functionality. it really is amazing.
So ive gotten the GPS to work with tomtom software and garmin.
Calling and sms'ing work fine to. Installing aps and games also 100% fine.
Copying music and play back is fantastic i use my ipod headphones and the bass sounds excellent.
ALTHO....
The only problem i have come across on this phone is that ..
When ever i RECEIVE a sms it wont display the NAME from whom the sms is from, it will only display the number. i have tried and tried and cant figure it out, nothing on google or nokia forums talks about this either.
If anyone could shed some light that would be awesome, all an all this phone i would def give a 9/10
would have gotten a 10/10 if the sms worked properly !! :@

i have bought this phone for almost a month ago... after a few days of using it, there is some time where this phone just hang... i am just using only two apps then... i just dont know why this happens...
but i love the accelerometer installed in this phone, it made gaming and using this phone to another level...
love the camera because it can take pictures very clearly even in zero lighting on the environment...

well i wuld like to have the black version, but would want to know -
"does the black one come with a metal/titanium front panel?? Or is it a plastic one??"

I do strongly believe in you Brynn, it seems like they're not reading the post, they're always asking the same question over and over and over again...hello!!!!! Don't you know how to read????!!! And STOP rewinding your question. Isn't it enough for you guys Gsmarena provided you for the specification????!!!! If you're not satisfied and want further knowledge, all you have to do is to search for it on the web. That is very useful, it's alright to ask but it seems like your question is keep on repeating...my gosh! Hehehe. I just want to thank those people who properly exert their effort to explain to those who asked sincerely like Brynn, Father Vincent and many others. Even me, I feel dizzy with the same questions everyday...it's nice to ask but PLEASE ask only the useful things that might helpful to others who read the posting here. Hope this is very clear enough for everyone!

I do hate to say this but people do buy these smartfones and do not know how to use them...The best thing to do is read the instruction book and if not satisfied then go to the shop that sold you it,,they should help you with the product??? I have no patience to explain these fones to people but if someone does i wish them luck..In all honesty it took me a while to learn all the tricks when i bought the n3650 years back and perhaps still learning as these sophisticated smartfones do more and more..I am glad i dont have to go thru this learning curve again but that said if i buy the xperia i will have to top up my knowledge of windows mobile and more on top of that,,its part of the fun else you are buying the same old thing in different design over & over again only reasons to change is better hardware specs...
The person on about version 20 being in black version,,it will come to titanium version eventually and in some parts its already available..To clarify,,the n82 black is identical to the titanium in every consivable way except the colour.
Last is most questions have been answered sometimes a few posts earlier and can only assume laziness or s/e fans winding us up????

I rate this phone very highly. The plethora of features are user friendly and the GPS is the best Nokia have produced to date. To complete this phone the design of the HTC S730 (the sliding QWERTY keyboard)would have been great. The user would now be able to make better use of the office editing facilities provided on the phone. I hope Nokia are flexible in ideas and will consider this.

Black N82 is same price as Titanium N82 for Rs. 20200 here in NPD Shops.
I noticed the N82 looks a little bigger in hand over N95 8GB, but i did not purchase N95 8GB as it's data transfer rate was very slow.
N82 with MicroSDHC and Card Reader is top speed.

Another thing... the black version is just the same as the silver. the only difference is of course the COLOR! Same price... same features... different color. PERIOD!
upgrade the software and stop complaining of poor volume.

This is just great! The new firmware for N82 has just improved the volume of the speakers... give it a try guys! I just loved my phone than before. Stop complaining about the sound cause its already improved in the new firmware although its still not as "loud" as a SE phone. ^^

@aryan,
there was an earlier post saying that both colors have the same feature except the black one is packed with the latest firmware version of v20.
does the titanium look good? please answer, cause im planning of buying one, dont know if have to wait for the black one or just buy the titanium.
