Those of you who complain and whine about hanging and freezing on Nokia S60 phones let me just reiterate that in most cases it is caused by installed 3rd party applications and not the OS itself. I have been using Nokia Symbian phones for a very long time now and that has been the case so juts be careful in installing 3rd party applications. I have had several freezing and restarting issues in the past but I am not complaining at all. Why is that? I prefer to use isolated freezing/restarts over a dead phone just like in the case of SE phones. I have a number of friends who are complaining time and again regarding their SE phones bet it high end or entry level.

Please accept the fact that Nokia is not the No.1 cellular phone manufacturer in the world for nothing. As I have been mentioning here time and again Nokia will give you many many years of satisafaction than any other cellular phone manufacturer out there.

Let us leave personal preference and fanboy rants in our closets. Nokia's N82 is a true winner with outstanding features and performance.

perfection of a mobile phone comes from the user themselves. if you're expecting too much on every phone from these manufacturers that have come up with...disappointment is always at hand. be happy and content of what it CAN do and not to drool on the things that it CAN'T. i own NOKIA N73 ME and i'm way satisfied with it. i don't expect it to do wonders but it does things pretty remarkably. then i can say it's 'perfect'.

@ Roger... Lets make it even more simple for you... Why is market sales so low in comparison to Nokia. Or even why did Ericsson sold it mobile division to Sony!!! Errmmm yeah it can't compete. I live Sweden home of Ericsson and I can tell its not doing as good you think. Nuff said! I mean you state some so trivial "wallpaper" OMG!!! please can you please define the word "Wallpaper" in the english dictionary. And regarding batteries someone will develop a high capacity battery. Theres even a 1800mh battery for N95.

@ the recylcer. Why don't you go to garbage and find yourself some tramp. What are you basing you information on BTW. DO you own this handset. Have you ever reviewed this handset for 1 month or so. Before, quoting your nonsensical information based on handsets that you obviously recycle or never own. Please substantiate your findings with actual personal experience and proof. And note: This phone has not crashed in the 2 months I've had this. I'm sure most owners would agree!

N82 will continue to gain a following through solid word of mouth from users who actually own this device. I prefer if a phone generates hype by actual performance, not just fancy marketing. No such thing as a perfect phone, but if the biggest knock is its looks, im content with that! N82 is not a perfect, neither is any other phone there, but N82 is pretty close to it if u consider how much feature packed it is n how well it performs.

Congratulations and celebratlons to Nokia on their magnificent new invention! The phone was only released and announced in November 2007 and yet it has generated 100 pages and 2083 hip swinging, finger snapping tongue wagging user opinions and still going strong!! I am intrigued and compelled to buy this mini-computer. Have Nokia finally produced the quintessential all-in-one device?? The proof of the pudding is in the eating!!

Looking forward to the firmware update soon. Most minor issues dont distract me much. The silverplate does blind me when watching vids under bright lights. Put it under a table for shade. I bought this phone for 3 reasons. 1)Stable n fast S60 OS. 2) Solid alternative for P&S cam. 3) Great reception... It aces in all of them. No freezes it yet. The rest of the N82's features is just a bonus to me. The looks dont bother me at all. Ive got a few curious glances already since it isnt common here (SoCal) like an iPhone or RAZR. I like phones that hardly anyone owns. N95 has taken some of the N82's limelight n sales which ok by me. Design is not my top priority. I dont buy phones to fish for compliments or look for a GF. Only another Nokia or SE will surpass this in photography.

A few minor annoyances that isn too distracting. Yes, the battery could be better. 1500 mah could at least make thru the day for me. Autorotation screen can be a nuisance when using emTube. Have it turned off at times. Wish the screen was bigger n brighter in direct sunlight. Make sure to have autolock app. If u shake it, the screen lights up which drain batt more.

why people say bad shit to this phone? i got this phone and its working good for me no freeze no hangs, and they always say symbian sux? i love this os it lets me put many programs unlike sony which i can only put java games and sum shitty program that dont make sence, and btw wats the use of animated screen saver if ur screens gonna turn off to sdave power, i mean its kinda useless also dont u think? surely nokia cant last as long as sony but imagine the features that u can use, for everything thats good theres always a price to pay, and i dont mind that as long as i get wat i need from my device..

I agree with Ting Tong, the most important N82 problems are its size and sound speaker, i also had a problem with the media player. Though i do have to mention that THE most important flaw N82 has, is the weak battery, i mean stand by times are pretty decent,(way better than the N95) but using the phone drains the battery way too fast. I had no really soft issues with the phone yet, it just restarted it self a couple of times, when i tried some wrong(older) sis applications. But i have to mention that the menus are really slow comparing it with some older Nokias with Symbian OS, i m confident that later soft upgrades might fix this issue and optimize the drivers. Cam is great, just a bit oversaturated under direct sunlight, bur great details! The video has left a lot to be desired though, esp at evening and night lighting conditions, IMO it has the worst video a 5mp mobil has, but phones were not supposed to be handy cams anyway...

My White N82 arrived today and I gotta say, it's smaller then I imagined! Not as thick as you would think. I haven't done anything with it other then turn it on and take a picture, but the OS is quite snappy and fast!

i think is one of the best phone on the market except N95 witch is almost the perfect phone except the battery quality .. NOKIA is far away the best mobile brand in the world !

There is a rumour going around the web about a new firmware for N82. http://cellpassion.mobi/2008/01/16/nokia-n82-firmware-upgrade-wont-damage-installed-apps.aspx
It addresses stablity issues. For those who are bashing symbian... Symbian is a completely different company to Nokia. My school mate is working there in the London. Nokia and Symbian are strategic alliances regarding Symbian OS phone for Nokia.

@ shanebrain... to keep from you battery from dying early. Best thing is to turn off power hungy apps... like WiFi scanning, bluetooth, if you don't have 3G network turn that off too. This is will help. I'm guessing you are still in the honeymoon period with your phone. So I'm also guessing its pretty difficult to put the thing down at this moment.

I managed to get about 2.5 days 3 max on minimum resources.

@ msa... EDGE is Enhanced Data Rates for GSM. Basically this determines the data transfer rate of GSM type networks. This is actually a superset to GPRS which lower transfer rate. Its like comparing a supercar with it previous model.
Or in Wifi: 802.11g with 802.11n (WiMAX)

Very good phone but with some major flaws:
-It is HUGE. How people can love its size is beyond me. Even bigger than N95.
-The loudspeaker sound is far too SOFT. I miss many calls when the phone is my pocket

                                        Bye Bye
