Harybo, my dpad is fine so far. Doesnt feel loose at all. I charge every nite but lve been addicted using this phone all day! Moderate use is maybe 2-3 days. Heavy use is 1-1.5 days. Ive surf da web 4 more than an hr now, saw youtube vids for 20 min, n radio is on for 6hrs n not one bar is gone yet. My cam did hang once but went back to the homescreen after 15 sec. No freeze or restarts yet. Just got mine last thur.

I just got my N82. My friend's got N95. Her's is sexier but N82 beats its speed and flash. I can say that it's really pretty fast and the xenon flash is very helpful in lowlight conditions.
I just got simple problem. Does anyone here know if the headset that comes with it is able to Forward, Rewind, and Stop music plays? The one I got dont. Please help so I can return it to nokia for replacement. Thank you in advance

thesasquatch - you're giving the N95 8GB's slide design much less credit than it deserves. it sports an industry-first ball-bearing slide - it's extremely durable.
sure, less moving parts, in the end, is always going to be better - I agree with you on that, but the slide on this phone needed some sort of positive mention, as compared to what else is on offer in terms of slide phones.

you dont know nothing about phones!!this is the second best mobile phone out there...the other is N95 8gb....the others are good!!

Posting on this bad boy rite now. Two things i enjoy in da past 24hrs. Fast recharge. Abot 1hr or so wid battery drained. N i luv the emTube app! It rocks! Just wish screen was bigger. Will look into Samsung i900 cuz i like dat screen, but needs AF n Xenon 4 me to consider. But N82 is still a keeper! Wouldnt trade it in just 4 a touchsceen phone.

just bought it.1st impression:- nice piece of wurk, light in weight.
poor sound quality of the loudspeakers..but excellent audio output quality best use earphones headphones above average output...
screen not well protected by the plastic cover (too thin)
software good but wish to upgrade to symbian 9.5 (is it posible!! any suggestions?)
good camera
web browser great
3d graphics excellent
still room for improvement(nokia please vary your graphics in ur themes too boring)
e.g animated graphics for sony ericsson interestin'
even samsung have such animated icons!!! its more fun
overall good phone it immediately replaced my mp3 player and my 5mp nikon cam (but for macro mode nuthin' best than a guud old fashion camera)

ok, my unit and all my friends' are so poorly
built, not perfect at all and it is a "high" level phone isn't it?
What a shame Nokia!
You should see the faulty covers, loose parts even scratches in the front!
I am selling mine right away.
How disappointing

Has anyone compared this to the HTC TYTNII (or O2 XDA Stellar which is the same unit)??
My main use for a phone would be as a phone, a portable camera/video recorder (which I use quite alot and I see the Nokia is 5 mega pixels) and as a GPS sat nav through my motorbike intercom(although I would install secondary software on either ie tom tom or garmin).
Is it easy to install alternative sat nav software on the nokia and can you remove the nokia maps to free up space?
Unlike my current N70 Both seem to have good internet access and this is really my only reason to upgrade (I currently use a seperate GPS receiver).
Which should I choose? If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Lads, this N82 is the dogs b0llocks and the cats dangles.
the keys were a nightmare at the start but now this is almost as invaluable as my laptop.
forget dodgey sliders, this is a brilliant phone.

hey guys this n82 fone is gr8. i don't know if anyone noticed that in official advertisements for the n82, it was written n82-1, so I THINK that there might be an n82 8gb edition !!!

Nokia N82 here in the Philippines is now P21,000 or US$467 with 1 year warranty. I'm going to buy this model tomorrow!

nokia n95 8gb is not better than n82 .n82 is very better than n95 8gb.n95 8gb i hang and not xenon flash.

N95 8GB lovers jeolous because N82 simply has xenon flash.
You know, this is REALLY tired.
Nokia, can you just put xenon flash in every high end unit in the future?

i think all n82 owners are getting tired explaining those differences to n95 8gb lovers. and even when you do make the comparison, people still come to the n82 page, don't read a single post before theirs, and ask, "which one is better - n82 or n95 8gb?"
...the answer for those people - "don't buy either one, because if you can't figure out how to read one of the dozens of posts attempting to explain the differences, or read the many different online comparisons between the two, you shouldn't be allowed to have such nice phones"

It is unfortunate that this device hasn't received the ratings that it truly deserves, and people who have already purchased the n95 8gb continue to argue that their phone is superior. I have owned this phone for about a month now, and am delighted with my decision to purchase this phone instead of the n95 8gb. The more I reflect on my decision the happier I am with it.
I long considered purchasing the n95 8gb, afterall, it seems to a naive person the ultimate phone, however, 8gb of memory, while certainly a sizeable amount will not last long especially after music, videos, games and maps have been placed on the device. While the n82 has the potential to utilize up to 32 gb micro sdhc cards. - This is essential for the longetivity of the phone, as we all know the iphone will soon be released with larger amounts of memory (possibly 30 gb within a few years), and it is clear and obvious that nokia will release other phones with increased memory as well in order to match their competition. A phone with 8gb of internal memory will then become obsolete, and stuck within a particular time period. n95 8gb users will no doubt be frustrated at having to delete content on their phone in order to accomodate for new content, as their memory can never be expanded, and the phone never 'upgraded' to at least compete with future phones.
Also, regardless of how much care you try to take with your phone, sliders will inevitably wear out and become loose, and there will be scratch marks on an unprotected camera lens. The bar form is a proven design, and while to some may not be the most attractive, (though I could debate otherwise, asthetics are nevertheless subjective and so I won't attempt to argue here) it will no doubt last longer than a gimmicky double slide design. The more moving parts, the more possibility for long term wear.
Lastly, people who state that the xenon flash isn't a big deal are fooling themselves. There is no doubt that people who purchase the n95 8gb do so in part because of the impressive 5mp camera. But what good is a high resolution camera if it can't take quality photos at night? - And before anyone attempts to argue that the difference isn't that big, I can honestly assure you that what you've seen here at gsmarena and on other websites is 100% an accurate indication of the difference between a xenon flash and a glorified flashlight. I personally tested both phones in a dark room before deciding that there was no competition in terms of camera performance at night.
