@johnny "tamales"
w'zzup li'l pendeho!!
nice to hear you compare n82 with so much devices and gadgetries...i've never seen nor heard anyone do that for k850i. lmao. nonetheless, going to the main thing ur whining about - battery life. you probably know the meaning of those little blue circles around each icons for almost all advanced symbian phones...means these unwanted apps are still running in the background.press on the menu button for 2secs to launch the taskmanager and from thereon, terminate all unwanted apps - which may include GPS access, internet through HSDPA, etc...if this does not help...wow...oooops btw, poor guys stuck with k850i...ho hummm...
im pretty sure ur k850i's gonna last 5 days...good for u...
Nice to see Jetsson,AGC, Good Karma..and the rest of u guys standing guard against electronic bigotry - whoops, guilty schmuck here...hehehe
im gettin tired of tryin to expand the level of understanding we got for the units we came to own and admire..hey Johnny...if ur happy with ur k850i, so be it...amen to you...just don't go pokin your tiny gray matter tryin to decieve the rest of us that k850i is way better than n82 coz the latter holds no comparison against : 8.1 MP Sony T100,Toshiba A205 laptop,Archos media player!
have u tried comparing your k850i to any of those lately, yeah i know...hard following the truth inside the rabbit hole when u haven't taken the red pill yet, huh???

I recently bought N82 Middle East version,
I noticed a severe victory fault in the camera.
A huge amount of green and pink noise filled the LCD and appeared in the token films and photos too.
Some times this noise disappear or decrease after a while of using camera.

Is this a software or a hardware issue?
Does anybody you have an advance information about this fault?

          @ Johnny,
I work in network support and I constantly need to be connected. Obviously in my line for work it not always nice to carry a laptop to dinner, hell there is no way I'm gonna bring that thing on a date.
          Let me give you scenario...
You are oncall for work. Its 8pm and your late for a business dinner but your driving around looking for the restaurant, check the traffic and search using you phone and GPS with either google maps or nokia maps.
you arrive at the restaurant and halfway through your dinner course you get an SMS ... oh no there the network is down at an airport. You excuse your guests and sneak off to side to find out whats going on.... but first you need to find the extent of the issue. Wow luckily there is Wifi. You log on and browse the web. No expense extra on the company. You make a call using SIP via Wifi and again free phonecalls thanx to services such as voipstunt.com. You go back to the table and say that you have to leave but just as you leave you see a famous old friend but you can't stay and chat so you exchange details... but wouldn't it be nice to tell the guys at work about your friend but they won't believe you wished you had your Canon camera... Oh wait I have my 5mpx N82 with Xenon flash. finally in the car traffic is horrendous.. again GPS is so handy... you get there is good time but you have to stay there awhile to fix this issue. Wished I had an MP3 player to keep you company. Wait my N82 filled with 8gb of music.
N82 is so versatile I don't even need my laptop. All I need is my N82 and car charger. This thing has got me out of trouble many times so far. And I've only had it a little over a month!

Jetsson, for your information, I did have my Wi-fi off and my bluetooth off. For most of the time, I used the most basic function on the n82, which includes making phone calls. So you are definitely wrong. I sent the n82 back for a good reason. I hope that in the future, Nokia will do considerably better in battery life on their phones. For now, I really like my SE K850. Again, my battery lasts for 5 days maximum.

Until Nokia improves its battery life, I will continue using my SE k850!

                @ Johnny

You what.... do you know why ur K850 lasts longer on battery??? its because its doesnt use Wifi. Now if you turn OFF the N82 Wifi scan you can possibly get upto 2.5 days without charging. One test you can do is, if you put your Bluetooth on and use a bluetooth stereo headphones to stream music on your SE phone this is almost an exact replica of what N82 does with Wifi scan. You will notice how much ur battery will deplete. Basically, what the N82 does with Wifi Scan is that it does a search and send packet information out. This considerably drains power as it uses several channels. In bluetooth streaming this is almost the same process as again it uses several channels to associate and stream packets... in this case sound. I'm sorry to say but you sent your phone back for no reason. It was "human error"!
For All N82 users out there who not aware.... If you notice that the your battery life goes pretty fast. I recommend you to use your WiFi scan sparingly. Use it when you really need it as this really suck ur battery life.

Listen, AGC and the rest of you guys. I'm just saying that the Nokia n82 doesn't have perfect GPS or Wi-fi if you compare it to a laptop, and it isn't a perfect MP# player (MP# was obviously a typo) if you compare it to the real one. However,it is also good to have a compact device with all of these features.

But, what is the poist of these great features when the battery life is so bad. Believe me, I saw the n82 in person, I bought the device on Mobile City Online and after 3 days of usage, I returned it. I had to charge it every single day. It just became to annoying.

With my SE K850, which I currently use, my battery lasted for 4-5 days, which is really great!

However, I do look forward to the new, powerful batteries that Toshiba is about to release. They say that these batteries last for months and if they ever come out with such a battery for the n82, I would be glad to buy the phone again. Point proven!

                    Johnny...

you're just...totally missing it. you just don't get it. or maybe you don't ever leave your house? you literally just compared like 5 separate pieces of technology, all built with one specific purpose each, and all larger than the N82 is.

what's that you say? your 8.1 digi-cam is better for pics? your comp with google earth better than gps and wifi? your mp3 (or MP# haha) player better for music? well, i'm sure everyone here is completely surprised to hear all that. here we all were in the dark ages talking about one of the greatest 'all in one' devices ever built, when it turns out we could have just been buying several larger pieces of more expensive hardware that do the same thing.

thank you so much for shedding light on the situation for us. i'll be sure to sell my n82 first thing in the morning. and i'll see you at the new years party with 60 pounds of electronic devices strapped to your birthday suit.

                    cheers

                        DEAR JHONY,

Who cares about the functionality, when the battery life is terrible and you have to recharge this phone daily.

CORRECT, NOKIA HAS TO DO SOMETHING ON THIS VERY FAST. SE IS FAR AHEAD OF NOKIA- WITH CLAIMS OF TALK TINE OF 8-9 HRS.

Who needs a 5 MP camera. I have a 8.1 MP Sony T100, which has better quality and is very compact.

YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY CARRY A CAMERA WHEN U R PEEING OR POOING, SO THIS IS WITH U ALWAYS....NO ARGUMENTS IN THAT PLS.

Who cares about Wi-fi and GPS?
WILL NOT SOUND GOOD FOR TECH JUNKIES, WHO LIKE WI-FI ING NET....

I have a Toshiba A205 laptop with better Wi-fi connections, a larger screen and I'm signed up for Google Earth Premium version!

WILL NOT SOUND GOOD FOR TECH JUNKIES, WHO LIKE WI-FI ING NET ANYTIME ANYWHERE,

YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY BE CARRYING IN A PARTY...

Who cares about music? Read the review. The audio quality is incomparable with an MP3 player. That's why I have a Archos media player!

HOW MANY THINGS WOULD U WANT 2 CARRY TO WORK....

A phone was made for calling. Who cares about the functionality when the battery won;t even last a day when you are trying to use the phone's most basic function!

                        THAN BUY 5110, 3110....

4)Whether additional sofwares are needed for normal functions like- voice recording,

                              jCP0 - Johnny

I like to have the GPS and the Wifi on my N82, it has been very useful and i don't have to carry two, three devices on me, the camera takes very good picture and video, i can use my N82 to play music as my MP3 player. The more all-in-one the phone is, the less you have to carry different devices!!!

                                    Stop being shallow.....

If you buy things based on looks alone, then your going to be left empty handed and never have a mobile phone.

It's like where your want to date someone, are you going to base your needs just on their looks only, are you going to judge a book by its cover. Come on people, you'll grow to live a lonely depressive life if you judge everything based on looks only. Get out of your shallowness and you'll fall inlove with exactly what you want.

                                    Grrrr

a dedicated task manager that could be accessed thru the "today screen" that could terminate unwanted apps running in the bground is a knocker, though u already got a basic one by pressing the menu button for 2secs...better looking themes and customizability of display...pic editor, with image enhacing and semi photoshop skills,a more interactive GUI for the audio player...whatever peeps over at the RnD dept could come up with...
aesthetics/functionality : keypad can do some reworks but i've no major qualms about it,noise range and pink noise of its speakers needs upgrades as well, they could also place a cover chip for the micro usb slot. whacha think guys??
