            @phonix thats even weirder as uiq being touch screen you would think it would consume more power ??

            Back to the drawing board as they say..

              @ brynn

              SE also used Symbian UIQ like W960i it used 900mAh battery and has 9hr talktime and 370hr standby.

              So i dont think its a problem with symbian.

              If might be a problem with S60 or lets just admit it Nokia sucks in their battery department.Just blame then instead of the OS or hardwares.

                  Could nokia not ask texas instruments to help them ?? WHY,,,,,well when orange changed their spv e200 to the new c500 T.I. got the chip they were using in e200 halved its size and in return doubled the speed and doubled the battery life,they call it the tmap 0750 later the 850..

                  OK,,what i mean is can nokia and partners take a look at symbian and what proccesors their using to increase overall performance,,i know apple swapped chips so there laptop thingys run cooler so could nokia use different chips etc to bolster the general efficieny of their devices..Eventually they going to have to do something and this is one other idea ive suggested,,when you switch on your symbian smartfone you are greeted with 3 choices,,
                  1)flight mode
                  2)general fone only
                  3)smartfone full function

                  or something to that avail..This could extend the life of the battery "IF" what people say and that is its a smartfone with lots of features and this sucks up battery quicker,,,however i still do not agree! what if you only talk and text that day and play a few hours of mp3 surely thats the same with s/e k850 for example but that thing hardly touches the battery so why should it be diffeent just doing the same thing on a smartfone when you dont use any smartfone functions,so obviously in nokia its something causing poor battery so if switching off smartfone functionality increases battery then symbian is therefore the cause of poor battery then ???
                  IN short a 950mA battery used by s/e is the same as 950 m/a battery used in nokia (i know some are polymer types but nokia should use them too)and should last the same time using standard fone function,,they are not so symbian must be the cause..???THATS my deduction and think i am right and awaiting real true life battery times of the n82 before buying
                  @ Stacey,, ive 6630 and 6680 ,,arnt they pixely using the 176x220 display and thats wat we put up with only a few years back..

                    I'm comparing because nokia fan boys compares this to the K850i when N82 was a prototype get it ? thats what they usually do.

                      I agree but isnt too far that nokia is going down pretty soon if they dont get their heads straight.Nokia phones do not have good consumer satisfaction.Buy this carry extra battery and charge twice a day or more with a bit of extensive use.

                      Nokia is below industry average and guess whos on top ? do not worth wasting money on this.

                      K860i = 3x digital zoom xenon 5mp
                      W980i = better iphone and better w960i
                      P5i = everything that you want come on 520mhz processor miraculous.

                      As far as n82 goes..design is good and so does the features...but just not my buy since battery life is very important.

                        In Bangkok N73 when launched in august 2005 price was 20 750 bahts. Now price for N82 is 20 150 bahts. That is good, better phone for same price. I think N82 is successor to N73, but I heard that a coming N78 with 3 Mpx will be the successor. I don't know if i must wait for the cheaper N78 (if it is for real...)

                          First: why are you comparing this superb s60 phone with a UIQ supposed phone like the prototype P5i?? they are from very different class. I´m sure this phone will be better thanks to its features and far lower price.

                          Second: this phone is already announced and will be internationally available very soon. But P5i??? come on today this is a prototype and if SE announce this flagship will be available like 6 months latter.

                          Third: this phone will be available much before P5i(if some day hits the market) so it will be the same like comparing N95 vs k850 (a non sense comparison either): better asles for nokia because they launched its product much before.

                          With all that non sense comments about P5 I remember 3 years ago when SE people was talking about a supposed P1000!! Do any remember?? and when it came out?? never.
                          So after that Nokia N82 remains being the best announced phone. period

                            This fone is really growing on me now and will purchase it subject to reviews with respect to battery & software performance,am using my old 6680 now cause its only fone ive got,sold my n95 to a friend cheaply who desparetly wanted one but could not afford it so we are both happy until she has to live with n95 then we will see!!

                              Why is everyone comparing this phone with SE P5i?? lol it's like comparing LG Prada with N73. I'm liking this design, nice bar, nice design.

                                    hmmmmm.
                                    No. i still think that this can't beat the nokia N95 8gb. The screen size is a lot smaller and thereofore you can't enjoy the great multimedia functions anywhere near as much. having said this the xenon flash is brilliant although the phone as a hole doesn't look even half as stylish as the n95 8gb. Everyone has been saying that the design is the same as SE phones; i have just been looking at the SE k800i and the ratio between keypad, middle buttons and screen are exactly the same. it's uncanny.
                                    So, i believe, that this phone is certainly not as good as the n95 8gb, although im interessted to here about this new sony erricson p5i.
