Have it for 1 month. Previous phone (still using) K800i. I was looking for a all in 1 solution with a good camera. Sounded too good to miss on paper, but a total disappointment in reality:
-Poor visibility in sunshine;
-Too heavy and slippery- have dropped it several times. Probably won't last long.
-8Mp camera is a joke. The quality of photos is so poor, especially indoors, that I'd rather use the K800i, which at least reduces 'red eye' effect.
-Poor battery life coupled with uninformative battery indicator- it just switches off all of a sudden after dropping by one line. Lasts 2 days max with only average usage (K800i after serving for 2 years lasts about the same, but used to be 5-6 days when new).
-Buggy s/w (partly resolved with the v21.
-Slider not top quality (wobbly).
-Doesn't work with my HP Bluetooth headset.
-Stupid context/menu keys.
-Poor sound quality/reception. I can hardly hear anybody (K800i sooooooo much better)
-Both speakers on one side- can barely hear it in my pocket in some situations.
-Crappy headphones and TV cable not included.
-Stupid USB charger, considering that u have to recharge daily.
-Just about any application on it requires a data connection and an enormous amount of data.
-Texting is difficult.
-Sorting media files is so difficult.
There are also good points:
-Good quality of display.
-8 MP plus I inserted 8Mp. A lot of space for crappy pictures! I downloaded a few maps and almost emptied the available space on disk E.
-GPS with compass- seems to be working fine.
Well, if K800i were updated today with a 8MP camera, at least 4Gb of internal memory and GPS, I would consider N86 TOTALLY useless. A slightly better display is not worth all the extra problems u get with it.

Fact is u all should stop bickering about something as volatile as the subject of best phone in any which way..Fact: There is NO (read) NO! best phone from the Iphone to the nexus to the else, only better ones.you have revolutionary or evolutionary phones, the N86 is evolutionary i.e. builds on the N82 and therefore improves on it because come rain come shine the hardware it packs has a much greater ability to adapt via imaging logarithms than that on the N82 which will fall into the legacy segment i.e. older hardware(N82) results in the hardware maxing out its capabilities where newer/improved hardware(N86) pushes beyond. So please if u have your wits about u, don't buy older hardware unless u absolutely have no choice, the span life of devices of that sort are short plus u quickly bore of it and its 'advanced features of its prehistoric time ' so could we talk about this phone and REAL user opinions/problems/hints etc

Hahaha.....n you know wat? you guys should read the review of 6700 classic. its one of the best 5 megapixel camera phone. why don't u just read it here itself in gsmarena?. image processing takes major part in pic quality. u guys know nothing about camera. Tell me, samsung innov 8 doesn't have carlzeiss optics, it doesn't have wide angle lens, it doesn't have variable aperture, it's flash is less powerful than N86. THEN HOW COME IT'S PICTURE QUALITY IS BETTER THAN N86??? HUH? TEL ME? now don't say i'm wrong. in every website its writen samsung innov 8 better than n86. please brother, i'm requesting u to see the comparision between n86 n innov 8 in gsmarena. give it a look. u guys are not aware of 6700 classic, its d new 1. it won the best 5 megapixel midrange phone of the month in the mobile world magazine.

I think what Nokia has been doing all this time is they don't wanna take all their smartphones to battle. They reserve each function to every smartphone. Like for example: N86 is meant for photographing distant landscape sceneries since its variable aperture and wide-angle lens will be most helpful here. N82 is meant for closeup and night shots especially like if you're at the bar or at the party, or just want to take a portrait photo of somebody within a meter or two.

jj, 20 Jan 2010haha..nice one Nokia_Tec..^_^ these people who are again... morein theory, n86 is the best camera phone today because it's got the high technical camera specs.but actually, there are 2 samsung phones that have higher camera specs than n86 already.but in image quality,n86 brings great improvements but not to in all conditions.no matter how good its optics is,it can't and won't still beat n82 in close-up and night shots.n86 is meant for landscape photography which most camera phone users don't use often.most people want to take pictures of their friends and families and that requires closeup and freezing shots which n82 specializes on, rather than take a picture of a scenery which n86 is best in. the variable aperture can't provide enough illumination as a xenon flash does.nokia made a mistake on n86 that they will soon gon' address on the n87 - the true n82 successor!

these people who are against n86 are just jealous maybe because they can't afford to buy one (for those who are saying that n82 and 6700 are better) or maybe because they can't accept the fact that what they have bought is a complete piece of junk compared to the n86 (for those who are claiming that the cameraphones of SE and samsung are better)..

                            get real guys!!haha..:)

n86- the best camera phone in the market today..^_^

LOL... 6700 takes pictures better than N86, and N82 is invincible, so why dont i throw my n86 and go for non-smart phone, a pixon 12 or the perfect satio....lol

                              Next time:
Mr expert: N70 produces sharper images than N86
and N82 has won 2009 TIPA awards.

downtown clown: Trade your N86 for sony erection or samsung that actually builds refrigerators and washing machines.

This is the ultimate N82-N86 camera comparison. The Xenon flash just can't be beaten by a dual LED flash no matter how good it is. And it isn't a win-win situation for N86 either. For most of the photos, N82 produces clearer image results. N82 is still on par with today's camera standards even if it's almost 3 years old already. N82's REAL successor hasn't arrived yet!

pictures taken with 6700 (5 megapixel) at night are mostly of same size with n86. Most of them are only 1 or 2 KB difference. when i compared, those pics of 6700 are far better to 'look at' then n86. but n86 was superb in producing clear images. nokia should combine the image prosessing logarithms of 6700 and N86 together.
