to maclay and nemesis:
same thing happened to my n86 after updating it to v20 via OTA. the music folder icon went to just plain folder and some of the preinstalled videos like the prism, nova etc. won't play, i only hear the audio no video. but before updated it i made a backup of all my files. after updating my n86 i also made a hard reset pressing *#7370# coz i noticed that the update somehow messed up the rotation of the phone from landscape to portrait vice versa especially when the theme effect is on. after the hard reset its still plain folder for the music. anyways after some weeks passed i thought i should give my phone a hard reset again but this time i didn't able to backup my files, coz when i was trying to backup my files it says memory full or something. so i still proceeded with the hard reset thinking maybe the previous backup was still there. after the hard reset i tried restoring my files but it said no backup content available. so all of my files were gone that's when i noticed that the music icon was back and all the preinstalled videos were able to play. so that's what really happened, i don't know if its just luck or something.

I have a question..Over the months i have lots of pics with just the number ie DSC00007 and am renaming them on the fone ,,just as i name them and select ok a caption pops up saying "changing the file extension could make the it unuseable" ???..However after this happens i go to the photo ive just renamed and all is fine but could this in anyway do damage later on in future??
I have all backed up all photos on comp but put some back on fone to show people pictures of mt pets etc,,all the photos on my comp are all DSCxxxx format....I know its my fault as i should name them at the time of taking the piccy but thats not always conveniant plus i would still have to rename them on the fone later and that would would bring up that pop up caption saying foto may be unuseable again so i am a bit miffed..Thanx..

Hey Everyone...Im new to gsmarena..but i abolutely lovvee this site..
Anyways am considering buying a new phone n was wondering if i should go for the
Nokia N86 or the Sony Ericsson W995
n i'd like to know wot the comparision between the two is like from users
features like
**CAMERA QUALITY ..since both are 8MP( which has sharper images...do d N86 and W995 both support sumthin like 'Best Pic/ Burst mode'and how good is the flash. Is there a vast difference between the two cameras (considering the Sony Ericsson W995 is from the Walkman stable)
**RUGGED** how delicate or how rugged the phones are
** Texting ** How easy is it to text on the phone
** BATTERY LIFE ** Are they as good as they claim ?
** APPLICATIONS ** are there applications and tweaks available for the W995 as there are for the N86 ?
** Memory problems** does the phone lag or slow down or crash often ...Also what is the startup time like ?
and Overall which of these two handsets you'fd recommend and why...or if anyone would recommend a different one ...im looking for a non-touchscreen with a 8 MegaPixel camera and good music player capabilities
Thanx :)

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2009i think 5800 xm is better than n86 , the only good thing on... moreThats not a good opinion saying a fone is good cause of inputs, i dont like touchscreens but also its a bizzarre comment because your bound to have input options on a touchscreen fone thats common sense???

Had a big corruption yesterday and it was f-secure that flushed out the problem..It was not a bug but a corrupt jar file at 128kb size which till today dont know what it was but suspect it must be a free game i got years ago ..I did a full format of memory card in n86 as nothing else would recognise card then reformatted 8GB mass memory in n86 and finnally the hard reset of n86 itself..After hours of putting all stuff back on fone the fone is better than ever,,i also got rid of n-gage stuff and games to get a massive 48.2MB of space on C-Disk,,The move between selecting apps seems faster and music player opening and shutting better,,..
The cleaning out and fresh start cleared out stuff i did not need and its always best to just put on the fone things you really use,,,i remember with older n-series i used to grab all free stuff and have loads of apps/themes/games/wallpapers the lot and it just clogs up the free space..Always delete cache on web browsers and reboot smartfone once a day seems a reccomended idea after yesterdays read up on getting "c" disk space freed up for smoother running..

i think 5800 xm is better than n86 , the only good thing on n86 is the camera but overall 5800xm is much much better with touch screen and 4 input options , alphanumeric, full querty, mini querty and handwriting. and the sound is excellent compare to anything elses on the market at the moment.
