i dont see too much of a difference comparing the N86 to the N85...I only see 4 differences. the 8MP wide lens versus the 5MPcamera, the N86 CPU is only 65MHz faster,and it weighs more and it has a kickstand, and has one LED,

oh! and i forgot! nokia only leads in sales because of others find it is user friendly! not in innovation! and dont ever mention that nokia leads in sales because of its INNOVATION! it makes me sick!

INNOVATION! what! even nokia can make phones using their own lenses! and this 8mp is a late comer! many have 8mp in touchsceen especially with xenon and hd video recording capabilities! and also have a touch focus! smile shutter, face detection! but this! OMG! below from the losers! and carl zeiss! i have an n93! equipped with a carl zeiss! anf=d the picture quality, is soo ugly! sometimes too much sharpness and sometimes too low sharpness, actually i used my k800i and my n93 to compare its picture quality, do you know who wins? its my k800i cybershot phone! nokia always make phones with ugly picture quality

on the camera, the smaller the aperture the more diffraction there is. Infact, in a point & shoot the max sharpness is found at f/2.8~~~anything higher will proceed to be softer and give a larger DOF and increase the shutter speed.

Truth: LED lights do have somewhat of an advantage. Its no xenon for photos, but advantageous for video
False: Carl Zeiss means great optics: Uh~~Tessar means nothing. Its a standard issue lens. Patented in 1902. Its old and means nothing. Most cameraphones use plastic if not all of them. Now a day its really easy to make plastic lenses. (Logic: Zeiss doesn't even make some of their DSLR lenses, why would they make nokia's?)
False: Nokia means good image quality and innovation: Well they did pull off great algorithms for the N95 + N82. Each manufacturer bounces up and down. Look how the K750i was the peak of SE, then they sank, but are slowly coming up again. Each manufacturer will come out with something good and innovative sometimes

i was walking on the red path and i saw a shinning red red light on the sky. what was it, i thought that red thing yeah i found. it was or theese were idou and w995. i have been very happy 'cause theese mobile phones are the world's future. what a nice!

all you people are comparing this to a touchscreen phone and because is dosnt have touchscreen you all hate it, whatever nokia come out with you people are not satisfied with it "you guys really like to put somthing down if you dont like it"

Nevertheless, the Nokia N86 has one of the most impressively equipped 8 megapixel cameras closing the gap between cameraphones and point-and-shoot cams. It's the first and only cameraphone to offer variable aperture values (F2.4/F3.2/F4.8) and a 28mm wide-angle lens.
You can see the difference between the wide angle and a regular cameraphone lens. Here are two samples of one and the same scene taken simultaneously with a Nokia N86 8MP and another Nokia phone. The samples are downsized to 800x600 pixels as resolution is irrelevant. Just compare the field of view.

The other first-ever is the variable aperture. Having a variable aperture (like a regular digicam) instead of a fixed aperture (like a regular cameraphone) gives you one more way of controlling the amount of light that reaches the camera sensor.
In other words, smaller F aperture numbers let more light in, while higher aperture numbers reduce the incoming light. You still get the same exposure, as the camera compensates for the various aperture settings by varying the shutter speed or the ISO, which are the two other factors that determine the total amount of light that gets in.
But leaving the photography primer aside, the advertized aperture values of Nokia N86 8MP (F2.4/F3.2/F4.8) have two distinctive benefits.
The first benefit is that at F2.4 the N86 camera has more light to work with as compared to the standard F2.8 value of all cameraphones we've seen so far. In low light conditions that allows you to get higher shutter speeds (possibly less handshake blur) or lower ISO (possibly less noise) or even both.
The second benefit from the variable aperture is that when there's enough light, the camera sensor can let the aperture close down a bit more (F3.2/F4.8) thus creating images that are usually sharper and with better depth of focus field.
Here are several full-res camera shots taken with the Nokia N86 8MP at the Nokia booth. If you check out the images EXIF data however you would see that the aperture value is F2.8, which doesn't really match what Nokia advertized. We guess the N86 unit we used was a too early one to really show its potential.

SE IDOU is a digital camera... with a mobile phone.
Nokia N86 is a mobile phone... but, well, with a camera I guess, from other supplier.

hopefully this handset has better reviews then the N96. and the 8 megapixel better be good for it to be compared with the sony ericsson c905.

Nokia sure got everyones attention creating hypes by not releasing it soon. But I wonder how they will live up to it. Doesn't offer anything new other than 8mp cam with variable apperture and wide angle. Real talk of the town is Omnia HD and yes that Idou came out of nowhere and got everyone puzzled. I read there wasn't a single clap when they annouced it.
