Kal, 10 Mar 2009There is nothing to go ga-ga over it at this pont of time. ... moreIf you check out the images EXIF data however you would see that the aperture value is F2.8, which doesn't really match what Nokia advertized. There is nothing to go ga-ga over it at this pont of time. Nokia officially released some prints (taken with n86) and that dosen't match with the actual images taken with the phone at MWC. They still need to prove that it is infact closing the gap between a mobile phone and a standalone one. So those already claiming this is best, should just shut up and wait.

iam sure they will do their act as they did..they are more arrogant than the other fans and crueler than us..
iam not a se fan or samsung fan..i just give nokia fans like what they did in order to they know what they did is very annoying

About Exmor (change h**p to http):

My comment is great to have this thing on our phone, but I'm not to fans of camera phone, back when I have my K750i I only want 3MP autofocus camera (5MP to much for me back then).

Oh yes N86 is focus on camera but I want to buy this to upgrade my N95 8GB: memory expansion (up to 16GB & 8GB internal memory), FM transmitter, FP2, kick stand and especially the battery standby live...

Nevertheless, the Nokia N86 has one of the most impressively equipped 8 megapixel cameras closing the gap between cameraphones and point-and-shoot cams. It's the first and only cameraphone to offer variable aperture values (F2.4/F3.2/F4.8) and a 28mm wide-angle lens.

You can see the difference between the wide angle and a regular cameraphone lens. Here are two samples of one and the same scene taken simultaneously with a Nokia N86 8MP and another Nokia phone. The samples are downsized to 800x600 pixels as resolution is irrelevant. Just compare the field of view.
                        http://i.gsmarena.com/vv/reviewsimg/mwc09-nokia/camera/thumb/gsmarena_003.jpg
                        N86 wide angled
                        http://i.gsmarena.com/vv/reviewsimg/mwc09-nokia/camera/thumb/gsmarena_004.jpg

The other first-ever is the variable aperture. Having a variable aperture (like a regular digicam) instead of a fixed aperture (like a regular cameraphone) gives you one more way of controlling the amount of light that reaches the camera sensor.

In other words, smaller F aperture numbers let more light in, while higher aperture numbers reduce the incoming light. You still get the same exposure, as the camera compensates for the various aperture settings by varying the shutter speed or the ISO, which are the two other factors that determine the total amount of light that gets in.

But leaving the photography primer aside, the advertized aperture values of Nokia N86 8MP (F2.4/F3.2/F4.8) have two distinctive benefits.

The first benefit is that at F2.4 the N86 camera has more light to work with as compared to the standard F2.8 value of all cameraphones we've seen so far. In low light conditions that allows you to get higher shutter speeds (possibly less handshake blur) or lower ISO (possibly less noise) or even both.

The second benefit from the variable aperture is that when there's enough light, the camera sensor can let the aperture close down a bit more (F3.2/F4.8) thus creating images that are usually sharper and with better depth of focus field.

Here are several full-res camera shots taken with the Nokia N86 8MP at the Nokia booth. If you check out the images EXIF data however you would see that the aperture value is F2.8, which doesn't really match what Nokia advertized. We guess the N86 unit we used was a too early one to really show its potential.

Anonymous, 10 Mar 2009hahahaha is there any official web site listed SONY ERIC... moreactually i can give you the site but i just wont tell you coz it is too easy for you..i want you find it by your self coz it is your weakness that you dont know about The new EXMOR sensor..

at the moment, only exmor has the tiniest and the highest pixel as much as 12MP in the world
and the name of CMOS sensor will be added in the back cover but not in a prototype...the name is IMX060PQ ( The Asian half of the Sony Ericsson joint-venture has just gone official with IMX060PQ, a 1/2.5 CMOS image sensor from the Exmor series that, apparently, has the industry’s highest Megapixel count: 12.25 MP.the handsets that will include Sony’s IMX060PQ will be made by Sony Ericsson )

this sensor in the newest sensor from SONY EXMOR so it means you cant compare previous SE phone with IDOU and the sensor has been tested but still you never accept it.

                          wait and see
then you will know that iam right..
                          time will tell...

I'm been using SE for 5 year and I'm very please with it!

Just don't be mad here please, Nokia hard fans maybe can not take your comment calmly and hate Sony Ericsson user more.

About the camera your been talkin: MOST Nokia user DON'T CARE WHO MAKE THE LENS, they only find is good and proud of it.

                            For Nokia people:
I have N95 8GB (my very first Nokia phone) a year now and feel good with it, all great except the battery live...

Ahh off topic, about N86 8MP. I think it will be my next phone but please improve the battery live...

If the battery live is same with my N95 8GB then I'll go back to Sony Ericsson. Maybe I'll buy W995?

Any suggestion about this? Lets wait until these amazing phone out first... waiting waiting waiting...

Anonymous, 10 Mar 2009hahaha se fans proud of their CONCEPT phone i also p... moreyou are missunderstanding about that..
idou is not a concept phone but SE officially said that idou is still concept name and the phone will be out in the market in 2nd or 3rd of this year n the idou phone is still prototype right now.if you are right that idou is a concept phone but the phone will be out in this year so SE fans dont mind about that

How can nokia fans claim that N86 is the best phone camera but they dont know the other camera quality out there in the market even they dont know how great EXMOR image quality is, even they dont know what EXMOR is haha

many nokia fans always say this phone camera quality is good but actually the N86 camera pupularity is from fool unknowledge guys who dont know much about camera quality, they just read the N86 features and settings mean in encyclopedia or dictionary and they hasnt known the N86 camera image quality yet in the real world so they are just over acting and over confident. It is very diffe with EXMOR coz EXMOR quality has been tested and used on SONY digital camera so many guys even many companies know about EXMOR image quality but nokia fans never accept the facts. they are blind fans.

                                  i advice you to..
dont believe nokia fans words about camera quality, they are just over conffident with their phone

even this N86 CMOS sensor quailty is low so how can this phone get a great image quality without high resolution image and high pixel quality although this phone has complete aperture? they are blind!!

"Up till now, Nokia has been buying the majority of their low- and mid-range CMOS sensors from the Swiss STMicroelectronics, but switched to the Korean producer because it’s faster than STMicroelectronics in bringing new products to the market."

you can see by your self that even nokia cant make CMOS sensor with low quality but the CMOS is from other company.Nokia just takes and puts setting or features is from the other company.nokia dont know about camera quality, i think nokia has a great consultan to choice which camera company has great camera quality to be used on their phone.

So it is not fair if nokia is compared with the other phone company which can make a camera quality by them self like SE and samsung.

Nokia fans cant open their eyes about their big weakness, they never accept that, they are looser!!

nokia without the other company help is nothing!!

                                  hey nokia fans..
dont be proud and happy to use camera quality is not from nokia strengt it self..

dont be over confident and over acting about that..

dont give comment about camera quality as long as nokia cant make a camera quality by them self..

dont compare your camera quality with the other camera quality coz your camera is not from nokia made but the other company so you dont have rights to compare it

                                  dont be blind fans!!!
