Here is the reply from Peregrine when asked about the Skype Video call....

Peregrine is an alternative user interface to the platform's communication
features. This means, Peregrine never can support more features than the
platform wrt protocols etc.


In addition there is a platform flaw we ran into. On the n9 Peregrine
cannot accept calls. Isn't a communication software that cannot react to
incoming communication useless? Because of this we considered it not very useful
to put further effort in the software and put it on hold. We also discussed this
issue
with Nokia, but it won't be fixed.

I have also learned many things from there.
The new people who just got N9 and people who are planing to purchase it will not go to maemo.org
They will try to find answer in some easy way. And whoever is coming to gsmarena will ask about this phone from the old owners. Thats it. I am just trying to help. And again I am saying that I dont know everything. And many times I refer people to go to community for help because I cant.
People will always try to find there answer in easy way. who are using facebook will try to join a page which can help them. Why are you fighting I dont understand that.

To answer your questions:
1) Many of the third party applications are such that it is not up to Nokia to build them for MeeGo or decide not to build them. There is nothing stopping from 3rd party developers building these apps for N9 just as they would do it for Windows Phone, Android or iOS. Nokia will not be building all of these apps
2) On the 1.3 release, it is something I would not like to speculate on. We might or might not do another release but we have not announced anything about that publicly.




Again, thanks for your enthusiasm towards MeeGo and N9.

Thanks for your message and thanks for your interest in MeeGo and Nokia N9. We have been equally excited about finalizing N9 and getting it to the consumers hands. The feedback we have gotten has been very positive and we have learned a lot for the project.




However, we have selected Windows Phone as our strategic smartphone platform for the future. We have been further developing many ideas we brought first brought to the market in N9 and are continuing to improve them for our Nokia Lumia range. Similarly, most 3rd party developers are exciting about the opportunities the growing Windows Phone ecosystem is offering them.




We remain committed to supporting Nokia N9. However, we will not be introducing many new features to the device anymore and Nokia will not be introducing Skype Video call on this platform. We have had several software updated with new features and we will continue to review new cases but Skype Video call is not one of the apps that we would be adding by ourselves




Thanks again for your support to N9. I can’t say how much it means to me.
