an, 12 Jan 2012i am a linux user and i would love to see pure linux on mob... moreYou havent been around, Linux geeks love the N900, N9 doesnt come close to the true linux of the N900. And Android isnt even close to being linux other than the reduced functionality linux kernel. Saying Android is Linux is simply WRONG, with Linux we still refer to GNU/Linux, and N900 is the only phone that can defend itself as being GNU/Linux. Wats Linux without GNU? Same as Apple OSX would be without the gui, it would be Darwin, which in many ways is BSD, FreeBSD. So Android is not linux then. Android is android, it was made for pushing ads, to make money for google, google is an ad company and does not give us android out of the goodness of their heart. Its not free. GNU/Linux on the other hand is free, no ads, no crap.

This phone looks lovely n I have read a lot of positive comments on it but, I have one concern... I kn the spec says it has java but I want to kn has anyone installed java apps in this phone? Thanks

does anyonone can tell. Is it POSSIBLE to ZOOM while making a video? (filming) is it available at 1.2 update?? (i think its not available at 1.1?)

Cemal, 09 Jan 2012I bought my Nokia N9 three weeks ago, notwithstanding all k... morei am a linux user and i would love to see pure linux on mobile phones.
with n9, nokia engineers have done serious efforts to bring a stabe, attractig phone. however, n9 is well-behind android. both meego and android are linux based, open os. but android is matured, flexible and popular.
with android there are many options to choose. meego is abandoned by its mother (what a mother!) and i guess nokia n9 is just for unconditional lovers of nokia. they will depend on few enthusiast volunteers for updates and apps.
bottom line: there are plenty of high quality, stable and fast andorid (linux) phones (just HTC phones among many). n9 with meego (linux) could be the start of a bright path for users (and for nokia). it is not a matured phone. still some may find it very good.

Better than N8 ? .. better than most of the 1ghz processors, out there in market in EVERY WAY !
