Androidoo, 27 Dec 2011Hello all am a big android fan, and am tired with it for th... morer u sure u can be happy with the downgrade to an N9? You will lose flash support in ur browser, its like going far back in time. For now i agree that its tempting to leave android, gingerbread is insanely bad and unstable and very very poor multitasking, looks like rice scream bandwidth (android 4.0) will be even worse, it keeps all the bad things and removes the good ones.

Root and flash a 2.2 ROM is the best bet for now, there are currently no good fones in the market that are able to replace android.

Have been using this phone for last 3 months. What a phone. It has got all needed apps already there like skype, facebook, twitter, youtube and many more.Skype is so well integrated to the os that it is easiest to use for inter os call and message.I don't feel need of a 3rd party apps. Its swipe ui is a big relief from the android crap available, which need much customisation to use for a fluid experience.

In a nutshell it is a true smartphone which makes your smatphone use really fluid and easy.so much intuitive. on top of that it is not virus infested like android craps and battery life is far far better than GS2.

Chai, 28 Dec 2011Got this phone for christmas and thought i'd post my initia... moreif you really want to do the "basics" as you have said it. well then, a $100.00 device can do it quite well... smart phones need apps both mundane day to day apps and also apps such as facebook chat real-time (with smooth, beautiful UI made by facebook themselves for android), what about yahoo messager real time with video calling support. app made yahoo), full flash support such as on android. those apps just to name a few is very important to a phone that is classified as "smart"

please analyze the device well before spending your money.. it maybe good enough for you but a "smarter" user prefer a "smarter" phone.

when you buy this phone, it will be a "buy now, use later" as there is not much applications available on this device. as meego is the only OS used by nokia, it will be very hard to motivate developers to create app for this phone. nokia is dumping this Meego OS for Windows 7.5. selling this meego under the name of n9 is the only way to at least get a return on investment for Nokia Research and development for this product. it's a beautiful phone but is it worth it? i don't think so... you decide for yourself.

nothin is bettr than an android. THe wp7 and ios need one core to function properly i accept, but the android is more smooth and glitch free than the above mentioned equivalents.... the rumour about android needing to hav more than one core to function smoothly is absolute bullshit!!......so if you're going for a new cell and you dont wanna burn a hole in your wallet(which you'll obviously be doing by buyin the n9) then i suggest u betr go for the sony ericsson xperia ARC-S. check it out mate!!! at the end its your money!!! your decision!!

Got this phone for christmas and thought i'd post my initial impressions.
In regards to the design i find it quite amazing, the polycarbonate plastic feels good in the hand and seems to be tough enough to handle everyday use. The 4 corners are a little bit pointy and you do notice them dig into your hand when using it. The amoled screen is simply amazing, the deep blacks and great contrast make viewing a pleasure. The only complaint i have is the metal strip at the back gets scratched easily. I handle my phones with great care yet i have a few scratches on it already. Luckily nokia includes a nice cover so if you use that the scratching wont be a problem. Having the speaker on the bottom is great as you dont have the muffling problem that some handsets have where the speakers is on the back. The actual sound is quite nice, personally i would have liked the speaker to be a little louder but its overall volume lvl is sufficient and above average compared with the many other smartphones i've used.
Using the phone is an absolute pleasure. Not having to rely on buttons to use the phone gives a unique and satisfying experience. I love how i can navigate and use the phone with simple swipes.
Cell reception is fantastic and call quality is excellent.
While there isnt a huge amount of apps on offer from the store there is enough to cover most of the basics. The only thing i find missing at the moment is a dlna app so i can stream media to and from the phone. There maybe a current solution for it but i havent had the time to look into it yet. What i found most impressive was the built in nokia maps and nokia drive which work amazingly well. I was also happy to see sportstracker available free in the store, as a long time nokia user its a must have for me and works just as well on the N9 as it did on symbian handsets.
Lastly the camera is fantastic, snapshot times are very fast indeed and picture quality is great. 720p video is very good too, i find myself purposefully taking random pics and videos just so i can upload and show them off online lol.
Battery life is very good, its above average and better than most other handsets i've used in the past. I'm a moderate user and i get 2 days use between charges.

Overall as a mobile phone the N9 is another awesome and unique offering from Nokia. If you like to play with apps and games then it may not be to your liking but if you want a solid mobile phone thats unique, looks great and handles the basics really well then you wont go wrong with the N9.

Emily, 26 Dec 2011Which is better? Iphone 4 or Nokia N9?Depends on your own preferences really. If you love apps and games then the iphone wins hands down. If you want something thats unique and will stand out then the N9 is a good choice.
