I only have one question. Why do we in South Africa always be last with every new release. The N9 is only available in December??? according to Nashua Mobile. Always behind. Thanx

I love how people keep calling Elop a Troll. Nokia is a businees i know that does not mean anything here. Elop dose not make decisions on his own they have to be agreed with a board.

After million upon millions spent on Meego as lovely as the N9 is one has ask the question is this it. their is no mind share on this device and their is no eco system really big enough for this device at the moment geeks and arm chair fans dont count. The app store will have about 168 apps.

Although people keep saying apps are not the only thing that a phone should have with general public it is a major selling point and 168 dont cut it. waiting for developers that might and might not jump on this OS is a risky place to put your money for maybe a 2 year contract. and yes it will be able to use android apps but people just want to take it out of the box and use it not fiddle around.

At the end of the day all mobile companies want to make money and not just spend it. i dont know if WP7 will be a hit and i havent bought a Nokia handset for years. But even if you dont like WP7 it has a growing app market ok not as big as Android and iOS but between 20,000 - 25,000 and counting also developers to go with it.

Its easier to sell than the N9 can you imagine trying to sell this to the general public in the phone store. "We have this great phone at the moment running MeeGo, what? oh it this new operating system thats been out for years but nobody knew about it, ok. Does it have any apps you know like Apple and the one with the green robot thingy um well its got face book and 168 others is growing at the moment. oh that ok i think i will look at some android handsets and maybe the iphone"

yea hate me all you like all phone companies and especially Google if you look into the practices just care about the bottom line money and more money. This phone has made think that i will have a serious look at WP7 when it comes out and maybe that was the point.

If the N9 becomes this big massive success i will be happy to eat my hat and put my money down and buy one.

fun9, 27 Jun 2011The highest daily interest i've ever seen in gsmarena. Noki... moreGSMARENA daily interest has nothing to do with how successful a phone will be, In the top 5 there is only one successful phone that is the Nokia 5800, this is a crappy site and you should accept that.

Paul Troy, 27 Jun 2011Screen Comparisons..nothing wrong with resolution.. http:/... moreI'm happy that somehow the screen superiority seems to have shifted from Samsung to Nokia. I hope they can keep this up.

Samsung is still keeping Super AMOLEDs to themselves I think, but at least Nokia can work to make just normal AMOLEDs pretty much better than SAMOLEDs :D

rmt, 27 Jun 2011no micro sd slot?????/////////////No, but I'm not sure what you need it for anyways?

I've never really used those. It's pretty much easier to just plug in the USB or use bluetooth. Hell, at this day and age with fast mobile connections, you might as well just upload the stuff online from your cellphone :D

While the lack of it is one option less, on the bright side it means for more sturdy build with less things that can break. Making it internal also conserves a lot of space for other hardware. Much like the unremovable (by "normal" means) battery.

The Nokia N9 is a very promising device. It has the good form factor and a great operating system. MeeGo is very flexible. This is what Nokia needs. It needs something that can be a real competitor to iOS, Android and WP7. Unfortunately, I guess it will be just a test product. Stephen Elop doesn't want to pursue the MeeGo project anymore.

I'm not really sure why Mr. Elop is making incorrect decisions for the company. Microsoft's WP7 is a good operating system too. However, the support for this platform is not really good as well as the popularity. Nokia should have maintained 3 platforms to compete with different classes of products.

I hope that Nokia's Board of Directors will make a good move to prolong their existence in the competition. That is to fire Mr. Stephen Elop.

Mark, 27 Jun 2011Well one of the downsides of not using in house software is... moreThat's what I'm loving about Nokia, it isn't just a specs sheet, it's about quality. That's something many iPhone and Samsung fanboys forgot when N8 was new as well. "Hurr durr no 1ghz CPU!", doesn't need one when S^3 is way lighter than either iOS or Android, not to mention it had GPU taking half of the strain, while the two other barbaric platforms were mainly pushing everything on the CPU :D

The N8 has the best antenna I've ever used in any device. Except for our http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIRVE system, but those have an external antenna, so it doesn't count. Not to mention, that system is created by Nokia too :D

Mr. Elop, you did a mistake by choosing WP7, Meego and Android and also Symbian Anna/Belle should have been your bet. Sorry its too late...

AnonD-7829, 27 Jun 2011I wonder what kind of camera specs will the camera oriented... moreWell one of the downsides of not using in house software is that the component integration outside of the basic chassis and SoC spec is a bit more difficult, especially when looking at Nokia unique stuff like a decent camera, or high quality audio. I would bet they imaging will be better than Android or iPhone, but not as good as N8/N9. In my mind the N9 is all about quality, not just specs.
