Nokia's Stephen Elop is still over MeeGo, even if the N9 is a hit.
An awful lot has been happening in Nokialand over the past week. A few days ago, we spent our first real quality moments with the much discussed N9, and we were pretty blown away by the MeeGo smartphone. Fast forward a mere two days, and we catch wind of a pretty suspicious looking leak of "Sea Ray," the company's first Windows Phone handset where else but sitting firmly in the hand of CEO Stephen Elop. Just in case that brand of corporate subtlety didn't quite drive the point home, the executive gave an interview with Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat this week, confirming the nearly universal suspicion that it will abandon the Linux-based OS. Elop told the paper that, even if the N9 proves a massive hit, Nokia is going to turn its attention to other, more Windows Mobiley things.

Paul Troy, 26 Jun 2011Yes,i agree it COULD have been a really knock your socks of... moreFunctionally work restrictions prevent, I will NEVER buy a phone without expansion. It does make you wonder if the 'sea ray' WP7 will be the N9 with these omissions added (sad as this has copy & paste) It's all this waiting as I fell for the SGSII, now I have to wait for another Nokia as I have ONLY ever used Symbian OS, & I love it. Not a case of SGSII v N9, but Nokia smartphone and a.n.other. I have to wait to have a Nokia touchscreen. I am blown away by what IS included and shocked by the omissions. What you say may prove right Nokia looking to the future, but given that this was a 'one off, I don't see it challenging WP7. People have common sense to wait for the 'supported' OS. 95% daily interest, shows that Nokia still know how to wow, It's just the 'nooooo!' in this case.

There are very few people on the planet that don't know what Nokia is, but I bet you could find people who couldn't recognize Android logo quite easily...

Even Symbian & Nokia doesn't have beautiful recognizable logo! All your competitors have beautiful popular logos.

Is it possible for the N8 to operated by Meego? Why there's no Meego logo on N9 unlike all Android phones are recognizable with the Android Logo. Are u sure its not Symbian? & what is Harmattam? Can someone published more videos on youtube, because most of the videos are focusing only with N9s 3 home screens.

Bing Google, 26 Jun 2011So you're saying buy a 64Gb version if I am unsure 16Gb is ... moreYes,i agree it COULD have been a really knock your socks off Premium Phone..but Nokia had no intention of doing so, seeing W7 is their preferred Premium OS. The N9 was so close reaching Top Marks, but i suspect Nokia may have dumbed it down a bit , so as not to detract from their W7 . Which is a crying shame really, as they were so close to making a killing. Even , the N9 is still a hummer, and i will get one for sure..

Paul Troy, 26 Jun 2011Firstly, its not meant to be a Flagship device.. It has R... moreSo you're saying buy a 64Gb version if I am unsure 16Gb is sufficient. Nonsense, Nokia almost always has expansion! This COULD have been one of Nokias premium phones ever! despite the 'one off' Meego had they stuck to the script. It incorporates features more akin to IP than Nokia and we wait to see if the battery is user replaceable in a phone that is not worried about dimensions, and no flash lite? It hurts me to hate this phone more than I love it how can you get so close to perfection then throw it away. Imagine just imagine this phone with an sd slot, flash lite. All the innovation that has gone into this, CBD etc. I really wish I could ask Stephen Elop to explain. Yeah so 64Gb, also @ work NOT! allowed usb phone connection, but increasingly 'administrator' privileges needed for smartphone.

AnonD-12044, 26 Jun 2011This has no buttons? Meaning there is no home screen dedica... moreIt indeed only has like two volume buttons or so as the only hardware buttons.
Battery might be like on N8, not removable by the customer without voiding warranty (N8 battery can be removed by removing two screws). Normal user has no need to remove battery, though.
The OS itself isnt very much different from others, just that the unlocking and all movement is done by certain finger movements instead of using hardware buttons.
