Actually, the OS for the N9 is MeeGo, not Symbian^3. Hopefully, Nokia will make MeeGo the new flagship OS. Symbian is good, but it's terribly dated.

Firstly, its meego.
Would you buy this phone if it had the n8 camera and was 18mm thick? Yes or no? Mobile manufacturers make phones neither so they can brag at being the best nor so you can. They make them to sell them. What if this phone had all the features of the n8 plus more, was just as slim and cost 1000euros. Would you buy it?
You don't expect every new model to improve on every previous model in every aspect. Thats why we have line ups and target audiences. The n8 is a media minded gadget. This model looks to me like a pocket pc. Business oriented if you may.
Also, you shouldn't expect every model to meet your needs. Its not like your gonna buy all of them. There are 7billion people in the world. Every phone has its audience. If you don't like the specs, move on. You can only criticize a phone based on price/features ratios.
There is no such thing as outdated. Infrared was invented decades ago. Till this day, tv remotes still make use of it

Don't understand how they will relase the N8 with a 12MP cam and "only" an 8MP on the N9
Can't they just make a flagship that has it all..??

Hope it includes a DVB-H broadcast receiver, and that it works down here in Argentina. Would it?
Currently, there are 3 Digital TV world standards, US american ATSC, european DVB & japanese ISDB-T.
Argentina's SATVD-T (Sistema Argentino de Televisión Digital Terrestre), defined to follow the brazilian version SBTVD-TB (Sistema Brasileño de Televisión Digital Terrestre), based in the japanese ISDB-T (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting Terrestrial).

Leaked pictures shows that it has a led flash and the article on gsmarena says that it will have a 5mp camera ! Well done nokia otherwise N9 would b a N8 killer ! I am going with N8 :)
