administrater, 11 Oct 2012can i choose apple iphone 5 instead of nokia n9You could - it depends on what you want out of it. The iPhone has far more up-to-date hardware, and will continue getting official updates. However, it's considerably more expensive in most countries.

The N9 has some fairly old hardware now, but Swipe UI is still a nice interface, and the phone's one of the more open to modding. Official updates from here on are likely to be non-existent or limited to bug fixes, though community support is very good.

Cell phone components on RF board do not "degrade" like a battery, especially in the RX section, that is nonsense. N9 TX/RX stands good. Likely, the cellular service provider has a problem with its base station TX power or antenna. Also, N9 battery is good if you recharge nightly, and fully discharge it 1x/mo. Lithium batteries like to be topped off like an alcoholic.

to all whose complaining about the signal of your n9, try to bring it to nokia center.. im sure that its your simcard that causes the problem, try to wipe it clean or put a thin paper at the back of the simcard tray.. its the fault of unpropperly cut simcard, happened to me as well after a month of used but when i put paper at the back it works great and never lose signal ever again..to be honest n9 simcard tray is not that perfect..thers a lot of complains about it..

I'm not having any signal problems personally, but that doesn't mean people who do are lying! Unfortunately, it's probably a hardware issue and not fixable short of replacing the radio.

To say it in another way.. i would be seriously pissed if someone found a potential problem with the model car i have. But i would want to know, yes. With N9 its easier, its not a good phone anyway. N900, now that was a good phone, N9 was a huge downgrade and an unworthy successor from the N900.

AnonD-34077, 05 Oct 2012You may have bad experience with your N9. But I am here jus... moreYou take it out and compare it to other phones in a place where signal is weak. Same goes for other N9 owners here, lest get some more data on this, since we are already 2 people here with degrading signal on N9.

For reference, a good N9 will outperform any HTC phone, and have slightly lower or same signal as fairly new Sony Ericsson phones.

If you experience like us, that a HTC has a much better signal then your N9 is probably degraded. Here, our HTC used to be the one with weak signal, but it still have signal in the same place as the N9 has no signal (but the N9 used to have signal in that place). The HTC never was good but now its better (but its nowhere near our two Xperia Phones ofcourse)

And ch.saqib, i dont believe you have done systematic testing to back up your words, but i do know its a human thing to take our own things into defense, but i want to ask you, what is in it for you? Does denying a potential problem make it go away, or does it exalt you and your gadgets in any way, does it benefit anyone at all? Think about it and you will agree that a non-biased systematic approach is the best way to go. Its not like N9 owners will be sentenced to eternal damnation if this turns out to be a common problem, quite the opposite, it will add to our knowledge about this device.

Anyway, you can run Android on it via Nitdroid, but last I heard that had no voice call support yet, so it's not something worth using if the N9 is your main device.
