The battery is better than my G1 was but if i had to pick this devices largest weakness it would be the battery. If u use heavily u will get 4-8 hrs tops. if u use seldom it will last a day and a half

I have bought the N900 3 months ago, and all I can say is this --- PERFECT!!!
I don't understand the battery life complains, I'm using it heavily, photos, internet, music, games, and it lasts for three days, sometimes four! (and the TV out connection is just awesome, no need for my portable disk)
A perfect device, thank you Nokia :)

xxx, 09 Jan 2011what would you rather have the APPLE IPAD or keep your noki... moreipad! hahah, i rather wear pink ballet skirt.

ipad is the most stupid device i seen, its too big to be a portable internet device, and it cant do what a netbook can, and all apps cost something, and the price is just ret@rded. I cant find any use for ipad, it doesnt fit in anywhere, especially not for that price, plus costs of using Apples products, even basic functions are payware apps, that is something a long time linux geek like me cannot accept.

ofcors N900 is better, its the right size, is both a computer and internet tablet, and cellfone and camera, has loads of storage, and it can do so much for free.

the both do the same - things except that the IPAD dose not have a 5 MP camera and the n900 is a smartphone/tablet hybrid device.
My n900 can rock'n'roll it way ahead of all those so called 4g device with it' s 3.5g network access.

my answer is no, stick with n900 and wait for next meego model"
              -----
My opinion on this is that N9 will not cut it even with 4" amoled and watever, the main disadvantage for me will b the keyboard mechanism, its same as N97 (and E7), and thats too hard, opens so violently, very uncomfortable. I like to use both the N900 and (mostly) Desire Z with keyboard open, but i cant carry them open ofcors, noone does i think. My N900 averaged more than 10,000 texts sent and received monthly, plus the other use like frequent internet, thats a lot of opening/closing per day, i dont have nerves to do that on an N97, or N9, it hurts.

Plus, the screen that that flips up when opened, what IS that?? Why? When typing on the keyboard with the thumbs you dont want the screen to point at a point below your eyes, then have to bend the wrists away from you, thats not natural, for my wrists at least, not the angle i can see the screen comfortably. Its an ergonomic disaster in addition to being too hard and violent.

I rather hope for HTC to jump onto Meego, both for the supersmooth keyboard mechanism and because it seems HTCs has less flaws than other brands, compared to other android fones their software is surprisingly flawless even in early firmware revisions, no serious performance issues and watever, really premium stuff. Lately Nokia has been similar to samsung when it comes to bugs, N8 was not convincing and still need updates, and even simpler units from Nokia has too many flaws compared to the complexity. X3-02 TnT for example, its a Series 40, not complex enough to forgive software flaws, and im not so sure if N8 and so on has only software flaws, maybe not so well constructed...

N9 is a big no thanks. I want to be able to install meego on my HTC Desire Z.

I am Hardik from India & I faced the same problem last month. Its a software glitch in the first version of the Maemo5 that comes installed along with the handset. However, the glitch has been fixed by Nokia in latest PR1.3 release. PR1.4 is due in Q2'11..

Coming back to ur problem, there are two solutions to it.

First one is to flash the RAM of ur tablet. Below is the link which step by step procedure to do so.
                              http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/Maemo-Devices/N900-been-restarting-lots-now-will-not-boot-up-at-all/m-p/589603

If the above solution doesn't work, the only way to get the phone working is to update the software of it.. Don't be surprised.. the software can be upgraded even if ur phone is switched off.. :)

Update the software to latest PR1.3 & problem will be solved. but here the penalty is, u will loose all the data - contacts, messages, photos, settings, videos - that u have stored in the hard disk. the only way to recover contacts, messages & settings is to restore them from back up, PROVIDED u have taken back up earlier while the phone was working. or else the data is lost..

having mentioned the consequences, i post the link below which is the step by step guide to update the software..

                              http://thenokiaguide.com/2010/01/11/how-to-hard-reset-the-n900-resets-all-data/

For me, the first procedure didn't work but the second one worked perfectly & i m now using my tablet the way i was used to before..:)

                              All the best,
                              Have a Gr8 Day....:)
