Rajesh Dwivedi, 07 Jan 2011Hey guys plz help as i m not able to use wired handsfree si... moreHi Rajesh,

Which wired handsfree model are you refering?
The one which comes with teh N900 sales package is WH-205 & its not having music control keys.. Its just having call answering button on it.

Another one is WH-701, the one which comes with N97 or N97Mini with call answering as well as music control (volume, next, previous, rewind, forward)keys. But as we both know, this handsfree is not supported by N900 although the hardware of the tablet is capable to do so..

My WH-205 is working perfectly fine & i am able to listen music as well as answer the incoming calls without any additional handsfree plugin installed on it..

Please elaborate your problem in more detail so that we can discuss it & search the solution for it further.. :)

hey guys i installed "an-droid theme" today. it is amazing. though i like keeping my phone simple and dont like much change but really i liked this theme. one should have this installed. "tempy" i found a nice application which saves youtube videos directly to the phone.

I agree with you wholly and thats why i have a nokia e73 close by. for the great battery life and the wonderful navigation experience. U are right I dont use the N900 for navigation at all. also, i have 2 garmins for road travel anyway. Again though, I agree with you whole heartedly and the N900 is definitley not better "phone wise" than the G2/Desire Z, but as a gadget it does plenty more

sly, 06 Jan 2011outdated??? you people need to stop the madness! its the ... morei also hate android and the socalled "free apps". But Htc Desire Z is still a better fone than N900. Coz N900 is not a fone, its an internet tablet/pocket computer, with a simple fone app added. Its still the best for internet but Froyo is giving me flash support, Android has become "good enough".

I can live with Android instead of the N900, its good to not always have to plan ahead to not run out of battery, and it good with bigger and better screen, and not to mention navigation, you have to admit that Ovi Maps for maemo is so slow that its not practically usable. Zooming and panning takes forever, this is insanely much better on my HTC, so smoooth and fast, i can easily drive and zoom pan at the same time, i cudnt even stop and do that on the N900, wasting time in fighting a virtually unresponsive app? Even S40 Nokias with GPS are by far superior.

It was easy to forgive N900's shortcomings when there was no alternatives that had full flash support, but that is no longer the case, so now it has tunred around, its now easy to forgive androids pushiness to make money for google. I need battery time and working maps also, i guess im not like you who love to go around and show off that Maemo5 is the best OS. It is best, yes, but i dont feel the need to go door to door like a jehovas witness to convince everyone that its best.

im using this phone for 6mos now..i got this last year and i saw on youtube that maemo is dead.
my concern is,if meego would come out do we need to throw this expensive phone over meego..coz if meego would be incompatible, then nokia is just fooling around with us consumer for selling this phone if maemo is dead...maemo is dead but i hope we can still able to download from meego so we can update, upgrade and continue using this phone...damn i hope im not wasting my money!!

people who r just now jumpin on the android bandwagon have so much to say about what they left behind. however i was one of the first to experience android starting with the g1 and owning 3 more since then. i decided to put it down when everyone in the world became a follower. i remember how people laughed at android when it first dropped and now all those people own one. i refuse to be a follower and i dont like the idea of advertisements forced on me via free apps. not to mention google has admitted that everything u do with them they keep on record for life. no thanks. the n900 is the best ever and still does more than any other device on the market. i dont miss android one bit and when i show people the things i can do with this their jaws drop because with all those useless apps they still cant do what do

Also for searching packages, you should be able to run this "apt-cache search ".

Or through SCART with an adapter. Just dont expect too much, picture quality on Nokia TV outputs has never been great, and i hear its not great also over HDMI on Nokia N8. Cheap and simple circuits, it works but thats all

My N900 has never had issues, and that seems to be the case for most users. Its a solid and reliable little brick, mostly... That brings me to the size issue, its not realy so bulky, but its very thick. My HTC is bigger and same weight, but a bit slimmer, feels less bulky, yes..

About the maps, thats for sure, N900 is slow and unresponsive when using OVI maps for Maemo, seriously bad, scrolling a map is a pain. It was better before they updated the maps application.

So many good things about the N900 but the few disadvantages are severe, all in all it doesnt cut it for me anymore. I can add that i loved the N900 more than any other phone i had, debian based linux on a phone was a dream come through (i been a big fan of Debian since 2004), it was reliable and efficient, and is still the best for internet usage, better than Froyo units.

Oh, the keyboard, mine kept the paint through around 2 millon keypresses (which is way more typing than average users), some keys on the mid right side lost some paint from one point in time forwards but this was related to one day when i was eating chicken in soy sauce while texting a lot, was my own fault. The only keys affected were the ones that was frequently pressed by the right hand thumb. I guess keyboard life is individual and depending on the fat/sweat/salt in the persons fingerskin, or typing while eating =)

The things u mention abt apps and so on, i think Nokia has made a mistake by throwing too much programming resources into Symbian, some focus on with Maemo for one more generation while waiting for meego would have been a smart move i think, N9 is too long time after N900, a "N900-2" would have kept our interest for linux nokias alive.

I also dont recommend N900, but for geeks it is a good buy if getting a used one, they are already quite cheap. Im not selling mine, the prices are too low already, and i still have an affection for it even thought its not in use. Maybe the most remarkable cellfone of all times, but now outdated.
