i have had this phone for last 3 months and it is really jack of all trades :) but the battery life sucks when u hav max brighthness... so i keep it on 40%.. plus DC all internet connections (including wifi) when not in use cuz IT DO drains battery faster...
Customization makes this phone lovely and i m planning to keep it for a long time... i saw the specs of Iphone 4 and i was happy i4 didnt got much juice, so no reason to change this phone :)

I've had this phone since December when my pre-order from September finally came. It's been a long time since I really enjoyed a phone and was "content". I've used a few smartphones over the years, starting with Motorola MPX220,Nokia 6120,Nokia N95-3, Nokia N95-4 8GB, and the Nokia 5800 Express, I briefly used an Iphone because of the popularity but I'll just say my understanding of a smartphone was very different from Apples. The Nokia N900 is an amazing device, I also own a Nokia N800 Tablet , so I knew the N900 would be good. The display is beautiful, you actually notice the stereo separation from each speaker, 32GB is a lot of memory. I love the OS the most, allowing the user to make changes and install whatever they want is a great feeling, It's not Nokia's business what software I would like to install on my N900, It shouldn't be Apple's business what their users would like to install on their Iphones. There is alot of Apps but not nearly as much as the Apple App store, and half of them are not polished. Even fewer look as polished as Iphone Apps, but keep in mind they are all free, and most if not all of your functionality you need is already built into the phone.

The Web browser is the best I have used, Flash 9.4 works great, Hulu is a nogo, but it's supposed to get Flash 10 at some point, the community will hack it on there if no one officially does anything. The Web browser feels like a desktop browser. If you want a "actual" desktop browser you can download firefox and google Chrome, I personally like Opera.

camera is great and Video is even better, it's no 720p but 848x480 is awesome resolution.( A little higher than DVD resolution).

No MMS yet, which sucks, but community has made an app which adds that functionality but I haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet.

Usually Anything you need the community has made an app or modification for already. more Smartphone geeks will agree that having an app for everything is not always the best idea, sometimes, you like a small modification to a builtin function. That's where Maemo Shines. True Customization (period).
Also Processor and graphics are almost identical to the Iphone 3GS, they both use Cortex A8 and SGX graphics capable of OpenGL 2.0 ES however, the Iphone can generate I believe 5-10% more polygons, however games developers stated that they can do more with N900 because of more ram and more open OS, but I wanted people reading this to know the facts.
Anyway, the phones kinda chunky but I don't care because of the features and software of the phone.
IMO this is the best all around phone for now. If you really need cell phone games, The N900 will disappoint , there are a few(4-7) really beautiful 3d games that are really good, but that's it.
If your already thinking about this phone, go ahead and buy it, you won't be disappointed.

for all of you who think phone battery die out fast, first i would like you to do is to disconnect all your wireless connection. Just by doing that, you can have 30 to 40% extra battery life. Wifi don't kill battery that much as 3G, if you have your 3G on, then you would kill any phone 60% faster then the average usage. Wifi will probably drain your battery life 10% faster, 2G would probably do 25% faster, 3G would probably kill your phone in 50 to 60% percent faster and who know how 4G would do.

Its is an excellent all round performer .... I think personally there is no disadvantage of this phone. obviously dont expect it to run intel to open up fast like ur PC. but its fast enough but one drwaback i feel is the battery dies out quickly.
