        Not original reviewer, but ...

Zagg screen protector is also excellent. It adds a little friction to finger swiping, but not enough to make a real difference.

It is also a bit porous, and so oily residues from your fingers will not show up.

Needless to say that keys and pocketknives are no threat to this protector as well. In fact, I have used my keys as a stylus to great effect :)

I think the N900 has a poor camera, i think 5 megapixels is not enough. Maybe 8 o 12 like Sony. Sony has better machines in this part.

Nokia's latest high tier HW spec still remains pre-historic componenet with TFT screen, 802.11g. Other competitor is leveraging AMOLED and WiFin etc.
In addition, in terms of thickness it reaches 18mm which is hard to carry it in the pocket.

Anonymous, 20 Mar 2010choosing between n900 and moto milestone. please help me.I think that it really depends on your preferences and what you're going to be using the device for. The N900 is a much more powerful and capable device with a strong open source Linux platform (not to mention the large community of developers backing it) and the Droid or Milestone is a top-notch Android phone with access to plenty of apps on the Android app store (its name alludes me right now...). I own the N900 and personally, I love it. I use it mostly as a utility and for multimedia (i.e. the graphing calculator app, web browsing, music, movies, radio). It has, by far and without doubt, the greatest browser on a mobile phone to date and it also has the first and only mobile Firefox browser (I use the standard browser because Firefox takes a little time to open as opposed to the instant response of the standard browser) and has a great looking and (usually) smooth UI although I would say that it would have been perfect with a Snapdragon 1 Ghz processor. However, it is by no means underpowered and I have had around 8 separate apps opened simultaneously with little to no lag time in window switching. I think that the multitasking ability of the N900 is definitely a great help. It is literally able to multitask like any desktop would and sometimes even batter!

Overall, the N900's strong points are:
                            -Great browser
                            -Amazing multitasking
                            -Good looking/smooth UI
-I believe every app is free
-Great build quality **GET A SCREEN PROTECTOR WHEN YOU BUY THE DEVICE (I HAVE THE ANTI-GLARE CLARIVUE PROTECTOR WHICH OFFERS A NON-REFLECTIVE SURFACE, NO REDUCTION IN SCREEN RESPONSIVENESS,REDUCTION IN FINGER-SWIPING FRICTION, AND USES STATIC TO CLING TO SCREEN)! THIS WILL SAVE YOU FROM A LOT OF TROUBLE AS THE SCREEN SCRATCHES VERY EASILY!**
-Keyboard is good contrary to popular belief although may take some time to get used to (but not long)
                            -Screen is great (800*480 pxls)

                            Weak points:
-Nokia is already pulling support from Maemo platform (now apparently called MeeGo for future devices)
-Few Ovi store apps (although there's a separate app catalog for the N900 on the device that's still growing)
                            -Easily scratchable screen
-Big/relatively heavy (I don't mind the weight unless I'm running with it in my pocket and the size doesn't bother me although this is a pretty thick device; not so much that it looks ridiculous)

P.S. I don't know much about the Droid although I've heard many good things! Watch for info on build quality and read plenty of reviews! Price depends on what mobile carrier you're using (or if you're buying unlocked like I did for the N900).

love this phone and totally understand its main purpose is Internet tablet but for me the thing that spoils this phone is no portrait option for texting.

Does anyone think Nokia/Maemo might release a portrait option in the future to solve this issue.

Phone is amazing but another couple of things that really annoy me is how poor the video and camera perform.
I previously owned N95 original version and blows the N900 away for both pics and video. Why is it 3 years on and things seem to get worse than better.
Its the same story with My Sony Vivaz I just purchased, my K800 4 years old+ still beats it for pictures.(CRAZY IF YOU ASK ME )

Hopefully firmware updates might sort these issues out but its getting very annoying companys rushing out new handsets and not properly working on them and fixing the bugs because not everyone has a computer and time to keep messing around with software updates to fix issues.
