I have been the proud owner of the N900 for nearly a month now. I also own an HTC Magic and think the N900 is a far superior phone. I am a Linux user (Linux Mint and Sabayon) on my computers and love how open this phone is.
I am still playing with the phone and learning but am getting to grips with it. I have added the testing repo which has opened up a lot more to play with.
Look forward to chatting to all the other N900 users at http://www.NokiaN900Forum.net this really does feel like an enthusiasts phone, not just another run of the mill handset.

well thanks a lot for the info i also found it in nokia fora, man seems to be a leng and terrifying process, i just hope i don't brick this one more time. and you know another thought is stopping me is that i have to install every single program from the begining, man that's a torture.
anyways, i'll be waiting till the next fw update and then do it, till then i'll be hoping for a miracle to solve it ;)

all this was done with the phone off obviously. so truely is a HARD reset.

i see you wanna do a hard reset. had to do this myself as soon as i got mine. i reckon some cheeky git must have been messin with it before i got it. kept coming up "internal error application closed" for every application that is. did a software update hoping for a miricle.....bricked it!! wouldn't even turn.
had to do a fair bit of forum surfing and found the answer.
you need "maemo flasher" for a start
and through that you have to install the eMMC and then the lastest firmware. this is all done via the cmd window sadly. very quick and efficiant though man.
if you need any more info mate let me know. i've got the pages saved on my pc just in case it all went pair shaped again. that was months ago now, working like a dream.
if you dont do both one after the other it aint gonna work.

The problem of the Nokia phone that they do not provide a full, there should be an example of shortcomings in the functions enlarge the font and programs and the Arabic language

I'm having this mobile N900 for past 6 months ... one of marvelluosly built mobile with great features remainding me the olden days of nokia 6600 ... well built ... very robust never hangs .... very speed ...

i just bought this phone frm dubai...nd this is amazing phne. way better than n97 no comparison friends. i earlier had n97 nd i have sold it....i am frm jalandhar..i am loving this phne...best phne frm nokia. amazing internet nd multi-tasking.

Till now even at Gulf area , the key board is only with English letters not Arabic & English,
Anyone have any information about that , and if an Arabic & english keyboard will be release or not....As the Arabic software is important to me

Nokia make documents to go free for N900 users in the next firmware update.
i cant believe we pay a bundle of $$$ and we get the document to go trial for 30 days lol

My battery life with my N900 is up to 24Hrs. im connected to WIFI or GPRS for 10 hours/day (for emails, surfing, updload and some downloads), i use music, talk normal time not more than an hour/day, GPS not more than an hour/day.
i recharge it every night. i mean this is good for such usage and such a device.
