Gio, 15 Nov 2009Is this a better multimedia phone than n97?because of the resolution and the CPU, i would say yes... especially when it comes to movie.
Also, I'm not really the type of guy who play games on his phone, but that "bounce" game looks pretty damn good!
And seeing what the beast can do, I hope other games using the capability of the phone will be created!

Farhan, 15 Nov 2009Beautiful! i love your post btw did u get to try out the... moredamn!
I should have said I was going to play with it before so you guys could have ask me stuff to do with it for the 2 hours I had it.
stylus is alright but not fancy. it's clearly just a piece of plastic to help you to pin point something on the screen... but I don't even think you'll ever need it.
As far as the other thing, unfortunately I didn't think about those.
my main concerns were the screen, the reactivity, the media player, the browser, the keyboard and the camera.
So I didn't check any of the things you just asked... sorry. ;)

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2009Hi vinny, Thanks for letting us know what you thought of... moreunfortunately, I can't judge the battery as I was only able to play with it for 2 hours. Then I had to give it back! :(
But the owner of that pre-release said it last a little more than 24h with wifi on all the time. (I would personally recomande to turn it on only when you need it)

Thanks for letting us know what you thought of the phone.

Any thoughts on battery life? I had hoped that they would use the 1500mAh battery that they use in their other top phones.

ok! so I finally got my hands on one of the pre-serie for almost 2 hours today!
Oh Boys! This phone is just awesome!
My choice is definitely made between the DROID and the N900.
It will be the N900 for me.

BUT, understand that it's my choice and it's totally subjective.
Both mobiles are really good and I like the N900 better because its cons are not really cons for me.

                  1) its size: not gonna be a big deal for me: it's almost the same size as my LG Viewty. Just slightly bigger. but yes... it's way heavier (but hey... it's 181 grammes, I mean it's not like if it was 1 lb., and actually, for me, it makes the phone feel more "solid")

                  2) the resistive screen is totally scratch resistant: that guy have been using it for a month and the screen was like brand new. So that was my main concern about getting a resistive screen instead of a capacitive screen. but I'm not concerned anymore.
And damn! that resolution! play with the DROID and the N900 for a short time and coming back to your iPod touch seems all blurry!

                  3) maemo UI is just exactly what I need. I mean, I know it's totally subjective here... But it's exactly what I was looking for on a mobile device. Hopefully the maemo community will explode once the N900 start arriving in people hands (since it's a phone and not only an internet tablet anymore, I'm sure it will attract more people to it)

                  4) Deep space bar: you asked me about the difference between both keyboard: I personally prefer the N900's. BUT the guy would let me played with it said HE preferred the keyboard of the DROID. He prefers the bigger keys of the DROID, as I prefer the fact that the keys on the N900 are curved and not flat.

So yes... I was concerned about dropping a little less than $600 in a cell phone, but not anymore! the N900 will be my next phone for sure!

                    OvO:

nokia finaly answered to my e-mail:

"With regard to your inquiry about the N900 device, we would like to inform you that the N900 only supports FM Radio and digital compass. The other features might not be able to be added in the future updates because it was decided between Nokia and Meamo.

For the released of N900, we would like to inform you that they start delivering the device last November 9, 2009. If you have ordered an N900 kindly wait, they will definitely deliver the device on your place. Thank you for your patience."

so no video call working at that time, and no handwritting recognition for SMS.
                    for now...
