Not only does it not support SMS on portrait mode. It doesn't support anything except for calls. Meaning, when you rotate the screen to portrait mode it directly opens the phone call page so you'd make a call. Other than that nothing.

The IPhone is not a challenge anymore, its outdaded, and you have to pay for almost every application (Android will take over MAC OS with its free apps)

Does it have multitasking, a strong developer community?
That's where I'd start.

This phone only misses the 8mp camera for perfection. Does somebody experienced if differences are big between 5 and 8mp camera's?(Are the differences markable with the eye?)

Read the message of 60 Cent and then make up your... moreYep, I know there's a lot of features but think them over, strike them through and see what's left, iPhone might do too.
As for java (MIDP), no it won't have any effect only if you want to play crappy java games(wich will only show on a quarter of the screen since they're not made for resolutions this high) or if you need multi-tabbed browsing, that n900 has much better implemented than any java browser.
As for "the other java" the pc one, a port might show up to allow you to run pc java apps.
So far we saw open office running on n900 so PC java might be already there.
