I am not an expert. I use the mobile for :
1) Listening internet radio (Real Palyer - compramise:-) , LCG Juke Box (Killer app),
2) Fring (For Making SIP calls, integrated with Maemo in OS itself)
3) Ditionary (Good for language translation in Europe)
4) Other applications which you indicated already
5) Streaming videos like live stream (Keeping fingers crossed flash 9.4 in Maemo)
6) Good GPS applications (Mail clients are already integrated with OS)
Any other left?

I think it's as easy as installing an app.

1..if I get the cert from opda site, and sign the unsigned apps, will the signed apps I signed with the cert expire after some period of time?
2...Signed app with my own cert will work with other n97 phone?
Must have apps for n97

and some decent 2d games like catch'em

I don't want a keyboard so I'll wait for n920 but the OS will be updatable even if tou get the n900.

This phone is best looking front-face, nice idea of the OS, but there is things that turn away for this time, maybe N920 is going to make up my mind to go for it, because this one has to small battery pack, and there is not enough software for it, and i made get sick of waiting all and every time about to update for new and better firmware. I know there is good to browse internet in it with support for flash v.9.4, but that is more for lot of advertisements then, then i em the one that i may have to pay for data download/upload, and by the way similar flash v.9.x will be released in December for symbian60 5th edition anyway. I thought this maemo5 can run Linux software but is not, it's similar to winmo PDA can't run WinXP or Vista, it's useless compare with symbian60 5th edition.
The battery lasts for about 4hour if you constantly surf and music or stream video conferencing, for more see for your self the video on this link below.

the only thing that upsets me with it would be the fact that it doesnt have portrait mode except for making calls. It would be easier to text when you could use the portrait mode just just like that of the N97.
