nokia has no market in NA because...it's not a quadband 3G device...their high end phones are not subsidized which deter customers from buying this awesome device.

I preordered this phone and look forward to it very much. I'm checking everyday to see when it will ship. Maemo 5 looks like it will be backwards compatible with OS2008 applications, I just hope they don't reply on old apps too much because I want to use modern apps on new hardware. I had a n800 and liked it very much, but of course it wasn't a phone and would drain your battery if you left it connected. Besides that the Widgets worked beautifully if only a few I liked. I want to see hardware acceleration in every app, even if it's just to make the menu scroll smoother. I'm really happy with Nokia for this , I was about to jump ship and swim to Windows Mobile 6.5
I was tired of hearing Nokia say they don't need 3D acceleration and watch everyone leave and go to Iphone for nice 3d accelerated games. By keeping Maemo 5 and up for only High end phones Nokia will finally bring balance back because now anyone writing apps or games for Maemo will always be able to write it using 3d acceleration and not worry about compatibility with people who don't have the Cortex-A8 or better. This REALLY Pissed me off for my Nokia N95 because what's the point of having H/A if only a few games use it? anyway I'll be waiting for it to make my final judgement.

adam, 11 Sep 2009why do people keep going on like this is a phone its an int... moreThat's exactly what I meant. It's an internet tablet first, but if you're away from wi-fi, and in a city that doesn't have wi-max, you can use the cell radios to still access the internet, or *gasp* make phone calls.

Nokia needs not to invest to much money to develope maemo, what the people want is a n97 like device with omap3 256 ram and capacitive screen with symbian^4 new ui, simple!

adam, 11 Sep 2009why do people keep going on like this is a phone its an int... moreI couldnt agree with u more Adam. People are too concerned with the size of the device depite its intent. If individuals wouldnt take a subjective approach, and look at it from an objective point of view then they would realise the justification this device's dimensions and hardware implimications.

Looks like they took the idea behind the N810/WiMax, changed up the case and button placement, and added the cellular radios. I love my N810 WiMax and have often thought it'd be perfect if it had a 3G or 4G radio, now it looks like that's what we have.

My, my, you must be a frail and dainty one, if 188 grams is to much for you then you should consider testosterone shots and weight training. It must have even been tiring for you to type out that short message of your disgust in the N900.

Thanks to GSMArena for correcting the specifications on missing MMS and FM radio applications :)

Moreover, I found that there's maybe infrared port on N900 after all. So, once again hardware is available, but third party applications are needed for using it: http://maemotalk.com/2009/09/09/irreco-remote-control-app-for-the-n900/

I also like to remind all folks here that just like on previous Maemo versions Nokia Internet tablets, it's maybe possible to use "Easy Debian" also on Maemo 5 and N900: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=24272

Thanks to Easy Debian one can run various Linux applications on Nokia Internet tablets.
