Alot of people are putting alot of criticism on this phone. Lets start of by comparing it with iPhone. So far based on promotional details, and pre-release evaluations, it's competitive with the iPhone in every manner, except the iPhone doesn't have a 5.0MP camera. Second, the interface obviously is as beautiful as iPhone, but runs on the open-source MAEMO (a linux based operating system) which allows it to have alot of versatility of gaming/applications. The latter also makes it pointless to compare it to WinMO devices such as Toshiba TG01, Samsung B7610, etc. Why? Because WinMO isn't a full fledged desktop operating system; MAEMO is based on linux, a full fledged desktop operating system, with billions of application and games capable of being ported. The N900, based on the specs given out right now, make it a unique phone in the aspect that it's both a "Netbook" and Phone in one. WinMO smartphone devices, at the end, are still just a phone OS. MAEMO with an ARM A8 600mhz processor in comparison with a WinMO device on a Qualcomm 1 GHz processor, is like comparing a Ninja with a Dagger to a 5-year-old fat Kid with a Sword. Just my perspective. :)

              why so many complayns?

when the iphone 3gs got out, it only had 3 mp camera with out any flash and nobody said anything. and the iphone costs 600 Euro, and still people are worshiping the iphone like it is the greatest phone ever.

so now, when nokia anounces probably the best phone ever made (a true computer) with qwerty and good procesor and ram, here comes a looser that what it for 200$ with 8MP and xenon and multitouch and popcorn maker.

pls, just buy whatever you want, as for me, i will save up money for 2 years if necesary to get a phone that will please me.

There's some contradictory information available about microSD max size. Some Nokia's news letters tell that it's up to 48 GB but some says it's only 16 GB.

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2009hahaha i love Nokia haters when they see something new and ... morenokia isn't back with anything! I like nokia but i'm not stupid. This is only nokia playing catchup. they are still using a crapy 5mp from 2 years ago(n95), and no HD vid??? only just started with the cortex A8 and you reckon there back? look at samsung they have 800mhz in the jet and omnia pro, soon to be 1ghz phones out! Even toshiba have a 1ghz and they suck ass. nokia is still behind even with this. The only good thing about it is the software. this should have been out about 6 months ago and something much better now. so so annoying I want nokia to wake up! think about it, its 2009 and they thought it was a good idea to be cheap with the n97...128mb ram? 434mhz cpu? this phone should have at lease 8mp with 720p vid and maybe even a 800mhz cpu. then you can say nokia is back, but till then...

Rob, 28 Aug 2009People are never satisfied of what they get. If Nokia would... moreRob, i agree with you. half of the people posting comments about this phone does not even have a phone with half of the capabilities of the nokia n900.

this phone looks great. best of both worlds, i.e. touch screen + qwerty keyboard. Up to 16gigs of memory...5mp camera... plus, i think most importantly, 10mbps hsdpa...come on guys.. stop being a stick in the mud just because you cant afford this phone... give credit where it is due, and based on the specs of this phone.. it is evident...credit is due...

Why are phones getting bigger and bigger ? Shouldn t they get smaller. This is about 1/5th of a kilo and slipping this in your pocket would make it look like you were happy to see somebody.

Good phone. The only disadvantage that I could see so far is the weight. It is too heavy while it uses plastic resistive touchscreen. Hope CPU speed will runs the phone smoothly since this is a Linux based OS phone, not a slowly and often with firmware problem Symbian one. Not with the best specifications compared to the others -the camera, battery, the screen, processor - but it would be well enough.
