i have a problem with my n900, its not recognizing my sim anymore and wen it starts up a message stating that all telephony functions are disabled, i rebooted few times but no use, i also thought maybe my sim is playing up but it works fine in my old phone! has anyone experienced a similar with their n900 and what needs to be done???

Thanx for help me abhy ... I try it today .. 1more problem .. When m running n900 battrey become so hot k goes down speedly ..
M living at hot area here temp is 40 to 45 degree .. In dis season is it reason aur some hardware problem . Or change the battrey ..

There is an application called Maep that will help you.
Install it and use an option of Google Map. You will not be able to mark places buit will be able to access its main functionality. Other methodd is to run via browser that you can google and you will be able to install it forl how to work via browser method but running via Maep solves the major issues.

This is the worst mobile that a person can actually get ,, WHY ?
its because of many problems but one of the most basis one is that it does not accept the sim card in several countries and not only this it will actually chew ur sim card and noe even if u put it to another cell phone the sim wont work and then u will have to issue the duplicate sim , adding to ur agony.
Second, several basis opetions were missing by the time i bought it which includes HAVING ME update my phone to make a tranfer using BT and to install another app just to use the USSD option.
honestly, i am sooo fustrated even to talk about the problem i have faced, for instance, i remember making a vdo using the camera in the mobile , and when i tried to play it , i got an error saying " the format is not supported" , i mean i was like WHAT ?? but later this problem was fixed by a hard reboot.
the phone it self is missing some short keys which maked it difficult to use with one hand. All in all , i have a second phone now , and i am using N900 as a USB device since the only good thing it have is an 32 GB internal stroage space.
my recommendation, please dont buy Nokia , its not the same anymore !

It works.. Download CSSU transitions tuner from applications keeping all the repositories enabled..
Once installed, open this app. & select "force rotation enabled". This will allow UI to work in portrait mode.. :)
Also follow the tutorial below to get necessary OS updates for the portrait mode :
