It took me 1 month (March 2006) to decide wether I will now buy an N90 or wait 'till the N91 is released here in the philippines.

Finally, after 1 month of canvassing, research, and opinions from online forums, I bought myself a brand new Nokia N90.

Following are my reasons for NOT buying N91

1.) N91's Camera does not have a Built-in Flash
2.) N91's Camera does not have an Autofocus (Carl Zeiss Lens)
3.) N91 has no Hot Swap Memory Card slot (because of the Hard Drive)
4.) N91 has only 176x208 Pixels Display Size
5.) N91's value is fast depreciating
6.) N91 is not 3G Ready
7.) Ugly design and Styling

Following are my reasons for buying N90 against N91

1.) N90's Camera has a Built-in LED Flash
2.) N90's Camera has a Carl Zeiss Optics Tessar 2.9/5.5 Autofocus
3.) N90 has a Hot Swap Memory Card slot (Dual Voltage RS-MMC)
4.) N90 has a brilliant 354x416 Pixels Display Size same as N80
5.) N90 is valuable among competitors and newly released models
6.) N90 is 3G Ready
7.) N90 has a impressive clamshell design.

For cellphone buyers who wants to upgrade rtheir phones to N91, Don't waste your money for just a useless music phone, nstead buy an N80 0r an N90 with an iPod Shuffle.

I Wonder how this Device makes a Video Call. That's why I bought an N90 instead of that because I think it is not capable of video calling thus it has a 3G connection. My advice to all cellphones buyers,If you are not a True Music lover, don't buy this device. This device is very dedicated to Music and forgot to focus on photo quality. Buy an N80 instead. The price of Nokia N91 does not worth it. Disadvantages of N91 are No Hot Swap Memory Card Slot (because of the built-in hard drive),Camera without Built-in Flash, Camera without Autofocus(Carl Zeiss Lens), The same display size as N70 and unimpressive looks.)

Jazz.... do you work for a phone company??? if not then obviously you dont know how we work, For example stores have different stock levels to upgrades and new connections... obviously you dont know your stuff about phone companies especially Vodafone!!!! we do use different stock levels we use about 4, 1 for upgrades, 1 for new connections, 1 for online sales and one for stores!!! so rele lookinto thinkgs like this before saying anything.

I own this phone and usually people moan about the size! Stop complaining, it has a 4 GB hard drive with great video and music playback. People moan that they can't get 3000 songs stored, again be realistic here, even I know that's an estimate every other company makes up unrealistic estimates. I own a iMac and I have no problems with connection I simply transfer songs from itunes to the phone without any problems. Some people I guess will always find the smallest thing to complain about.

I've had my N91 just over a month and so far Im more than satisfied. The sound quality is excellent, its not too heavy and by appearances, other than the 8800, who can fault it. Even the size of it is no longer an issue and I'm a girl. If I could ask for one more thing that would be a 3 mega pixel camera but without it, it is still a brilliant phone.

to the post i left earlier, you cannot install themes onto the n91 (well in my experience any way). into researching this, its because its the wrong type of sis file for the n91s op sys.
if any1 can let me know if or how you can install old sis files onto the n91.

i have tried all my old sis files and none work

To fit 3000 mp3 tracks onto your n91 you have to reduce the bitrate of the mp3 track. at cd quality i have only been able to fit just over 1000 tracks onto mine, but thats easy enough

To FIN, thanks for the open review.

I had a few issues with my N91 as well but when you look at the big picture there is too much going for it. I have a few comments about your negatives.

                              1) USB speed. Support mentions that you need to ensure that the USB tranfer is in the forground or Windows allocates it memory as its available (making the transfer much slower). Also the N91 is USB 2.0 Full Speed (which is faster than 1.1 but slower than USB2.0 High Speed). I get a little over 1 Mbyte/sec on my computer with my N91 which is still less than 1/4 the speed of an IPOD but I do not move many GBytes of info often.

                              2) Battery. I get 9-10 hrs of music playback, and since it is a smartphone and music player in one (two devices) I usually recharge every two days. I experienced your issue once (with my 6680 as well) and my N91. If you have a 3G operator that is new etc the phone will have issues in Dual mode (especially with an old pre 3G update Sim card). Switch it to GSM only if you dont care about 3G.

                              3) Mac - check out this web site hey have the best advice for using a MAC and the N91 (which was not designed for the MAC really but for Windows Media Player). www.n91mac.wordpress.com

                              4) Video - I never experienced that, did you have other applications running? Whst version of sw are you uising (hit *#0000#)

For me sound of the N91 just bloswe me away.

                              pappy

PS: I suggest dealing with Nokia service or the online link I posetd a while back. Club Nokia is for developers and usually cant answer anything except how to use the SDK etc

supposed to be 3g and supports video calling but im assuming you have to turn the phone around, but if you do this, you cant see the other person! maybe its a return to the old 6630, having to buy an external camera. what a load of tosh!

i have a n91 and got it on thursday, other than that and the fact there is no camera flash... it seems to be qut=ite okay..!..
