Tony Please Read:

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WI-FI AND WLAN
To be specific, WLAN means a wireless local area network, typical WLANs are based on the IEEE 802.11b/g protocols. WiFi encompasses a lot more - it's wireless access technologies in general, of which WLAN is one, but long-range wireless connections, Wimax and other things would also be counted as WiFi.

To N95 and Tony, First of all WLAN is not the same as WIFI, you need to do more research. Nokia are temporarily changing their Operating System to Windows Mini XP Pro as they want their Nokia N99 to be the ultimate mini computer phone. The N99 is NOT a made up phone and prototypes are already being made but wont be available to the public until October 2007. Thank You.

To Xino, nseries, xOrange et al. I do not know why you guys find nokia factory worker's timely revelations about a forthcoming N99 so hard to believe. First of all it is a leaked document. Secondly the release date is FEB 2008 which gives them enough time to stabilise the firmwame. Thirdly, there is nothing so extraordinary about the spec. Already the N91 has an 8GB internal memory. Compact digicams such as the Casio Exilim Z1000 already have a 10MP camera. The N93 already has a 3* optical zoom. VGA video has been here since the 6280(15fps), N93(30fps), so the N99@ 60fps is a natural progression. The SE K800i cameraphone already has a Xenon flash. The N95 has only a screen resolution of 240*320 pixels. Yet its predecessors the N80 and N90 had resolutions of 352*416p and phones such as the O2 Xda Exec already have 640*480p. As for operating systems, it is not impossible for a company to temporarily change the OS for one or a few models eg the Palm Treo 750v has ditched its own OS in favour of Windows Mobile 5.0. It is clear that Nokia are serious when they say that the mobile phone has become a multimedia computer. They are now attempting to reach the highest standards of performance. If this can be done without sacrificing portability and functional reliability I am with them 100%.

                                    gps usage:

maps can be downloaded free, special services like cityguide f.ex hotel searching, gasolstations etc are not free.
