aaron, 24 Apr 2009Okay. Let's tackle the differences between N85 and N95 8GB ... moreI just have 2 questions to ask you.
1.Is n85(single cpu) powerfuler than n95-8gb(dual cpu)?
2.Is n85 really better than n95-8gb when it comes about music?how is the music quality of them and which have more music playback time?

Let me just add to my previous comment, N95 8GB's sound quality is awesome when the equaliser is set to 'Bass booster' and Loudness is turned on, N95 8GB is still KING, Im typing all this from my N95 8GB right now

Ktulu (N95 8GB), 24 Apr 2009You've given quite a good comparison :) You're not bad afte... moreA nice reply there, Ktulu..
        serves him right =D

        @ Aaron
        ohh and one more thing..
        what about the keypad?
don't tell me it's not important to have a good keypad to press when you're messaging a lot..
do u send text messages a lot?
i can't even stand texting 2 lines of messages on a flat keypad phones
so there u have it..the REAL winner :P
btw dude, N95 8GB was out around October 2007, and when's N85 out? after all that time, it still doesn't beat N95 8GB fully..
There are still little aspects that N95 8GB wins over N85 right?
So there you have it~ the difference between N8x and N9x =P a year's gone passed and yet it's still the King!

as GSMArena said "Nokia N95 8GB review: Return or the king" =D

look every one this is an expensive phone and a phone like this should never provide pannels with such cheap plastics it also feels hollow. my advice is you can buy a sony ericsson w960i wich is a little cheaper and works much better to

N95 8GB is still GOOD though,

                I guess Nokia made

N82 to improve on the camera(Xenon Flash, Candybar form).

N85 improves on UI, Design, Memory

But still OVERALL N95 8GB is very good!

aaron, 24 Apr 2009Okay. Let's tackle the differences between N85 and N95 8GB ... moreYou've given quite a good comparison :) You're not bad after all, but... Try and be nicer, in the sense that, we're people that love this device, we actually know why we've chosen it :) However, we do recognize the pros of other devices.
You should've known by now that you shouldn't impose on anyone what they should buy.
All of us certainly would search everywhere and try each device before buying it :) And each of us would surely have made the decision which one suites best, by the time he bought it.

Okay. Let's tackle the differences between N85 and N95 8GB as unbiased and fair as possible. The N95 8GB has better build, better materials used, better hardware, mature firmware. However, it's huge, thick, and the style doesn't go with the latest trend of Nokia Nseries devices. The N85 has poorer built, still immature firmware. But it is more attractive and beautiful (subjective), slimmer, has more elaborate user interface, more customisation options, and more extra features. We all know that the N95 8GB is powered by a dual CPU with 3D graphics accelerator. But the question is: Does it matter a lot to you? Or will you need their presence? The N85, just like most Nseries phones, is run by a single chip processor with no 3D accelerator. The advantage of having a dual CPU is that there is a host processor that deals with multimedia and application processing, and there is a peasarate DSP chip that deals with telephony tasks. The 3D accelerator is utilised in image and video encoding, image viewing and video playback, and of course gaming. However, dual CPU is more power-hungry than single CPU. And there are very few games that make use of the 3D accelerator. In fact, there is no Ngaga game at present which is 3D accelerated. So Ngage gaming between N85 and N95 8GB is just equal. The advantage of the single CPU of N85 is that it's faster than that of the dual CPU of N95 8GB. Actually, on this front there is a little to no noticeable real-life difference between the two. An average user will hardly notice the difference in speed between N85 and N95 8GB. Also, the single CPU is more of a power-saver. Both N85 and N95 8GB have almost the very same feature sets, with the N85 having some more extra features added. The N95 8GB has a 0.2-inch larger QVGA display, but the N82 has an OLED screen with nicer picture quality and more vibrant colors. If you'll ask me I'll prefer the latter since I think that the OLED is much more worth it than the 0.2-inch of extra dimension. They have the same 5MP camera, with N95 8GB Having slightly better image results. But N85 has a dual LED flash which is two times brighter than N95 8GB's flash. And also N85 has a wider angle lens since it has 5.45 focal length versus 5.6 focal length of N95 8GB. The smaller number indicates wider angle lens. In quality of recorded videos, N95 8GB clearly wins since it has a 3D accelerator which is a must for a achieving better encoded videos. When it comes to music and sound quality, the N85 is the better music phone. The N95 8GB may have louder stereo speakers, but the N85 has so much better sound quality via the headset, and the 3.5mm jack properly placed at the top. And also, N85 has an built-in FM transmitter which can be used for at least 3 metres. If you care much about the user interface, you'll love the N85. Looking at the transitions all throughout the menus, from opening applications to closing applications to rotating the screen from portrait to landscape is just so cool and nice. And there are few more added features to the user interface like some more customisation options for the standby screen, new Photos application, and cosmetic enhancements to the menu and music player. Do I need to elaborate the discussion about the UI of N95 8GB? It's the very same UI as in N82. The N85 also have a Naviwheel that can be throught the menu. It also has longer battery life compared to N95 8GB despite having same 1200mah battery. The OLED screen, single processor and FP2 software help optimise the battery usage. The N95 8GB has a built-in 8GB flash memory with no more option for expanding it. The N85 has a microSD card slot and already comes with an 8GB in the sales package. So I've mentioned all their pros and cons, it's up to you to weigh the odds. But if I were you, I'd choose the N85. Most people point out that the greatest weakness of N85 as well as other latest Nseries phones is the lack of the 3D graphics chip. But in practical sense, it isn't that much of a big deal. Only technical people will notice the presence or lack of the 3D graphics chip in a mobile phone.

Don2x, 23 Apr 2009This debate is just a nonsense! There's no greater phone on... moreCan you pls don't comment on matters you don't fully understand. You said the N82 is not a multimedia phone because it doesn't have a multimedia key? Where on earth did you get that idea? The N82 is a full-pledged multimedia device because it is very much the same as N95 8GB in functionalities. And yes, it has a multimedia key in between the right soft key and the "C" clear key. And pls, all other Nseries are just equal when it comes to gaming. The only difference is the experience they deliver. Gaming on Nokia is a software-related thing more than anything else, fyi! 3315 is better than N82 for you? Well, fyi again, there are only 2 Nseries devices that up to now which can be considered the best, it's N82 and N95. The new Nseries devices do not offer a major leap in mobile technology.

The new N97, contrary to what most symbian and nokia blogs have earlier posted, indeed has a 3D graphics accelerator. Nokia N97 is also based on the OMAP chipset. What's still unclear is whether it's an OMAP2 as N82/N95, or the more powerful OMAP3 as OMNIA HD. Nokia refuse to give information about this matter. But there has been picture of a disected N97 and inside it was found the OMAP chipset. You can find the article and the picture in symbian-freak.com. Just search their earlier posts.

Mehedi, 23 Apr 2009whats the difference in n95 and n96?which is better?well, N96 is newer and you can see it has more round edges, spring asssisted slider and 16gb of internal memory and also sd-card slot. While on the other hand it lacks graphics chip, has less ram and slower cpu then N958gb. It is basically downgraded N958gb but with a few non-essential extras. If you're into speed and reliability you may regret to put out so much money, because to a certain extent N958gb performs much better due to graphics chip. True it has no expandable memory but i think 8gb is more than sufficient for heavy multimedia users. That's my experience with both units. The one that i tried for a day or two has now died completely and needed to be replaced, so i'm not a huge fan of N96:)

This debate is just a nonsense! There's no greater phone on nokia why? Because its business! Nokia just introduce new technology then downgrade an older feature in return. Want an example? Well they say n97 is gonna be the next n95 8gb but hey! Have you looked at it carefully? Yeah it improves much compared to n95 8gb but somethings missing. What happened to the hardware accelerator and 3d engine? It dissappeared... If your an average user like you descibed it you won't see the differences. But if your an advanced user for sure you'll be dissappointed. And also for the weird guy there... Don't boast your crappy n82 here! The design sucks for a motion sensor phone! As its a monoblock phone. It would look weird when turned. Also keypad sucks! A 3315 phone is far more better than your n82. Its also not a gaming phone because of its keypad. Doesn't have a multimedia key also so why boast it as a multimedia phone?
