prince, 16 Dec 2008battery is actually really good on this phone!!! like reall... moreThat makes no sense at all!
I charged my battery yesterday, talked maybe 30 min. on it. This morning I woke up, the phone is off. None touched it over night. The light sensor has nothing to do w/it. Why should I move it to the lowest when it's by default in the middle (by Nokia)
What if one puts it on highest? Turns itself off in 2hrs? Why you need more than 8gb? Why you need more than 4gb hdd in your laptop? Yrs ago that was more than enough. With a few movies, a few albums, some pictures you have no space for videos. Plus you have to connect the phone with a cord to the computer to download your photos/videos vs pop the mem. card in your card reader. Very, very dumb design. No lens cover is the same thing. No excuse for that. Right, I can fix it, actually I can fix that no finrgerprints will ever get on the display or the phone itself.. I put it in a glass box and never touch it again but then what's the point to have it. Here's the thing. I bought it because it seemed good, all the specs. and compared to the rest of crap other manufacturers are selling now for the US, but by using it, it's a diff. issue. I had many phones, not one left me down like this.
If you have a Ferrari (no offense Enzo) and the car uses a tank in an hour, it brokes down, left and right, shuts off the engine randomly, has a 50mph limit, the dash rattles (my slider is loose after 2wks and I barely used it) then you have the king of the kings of the kings' car right.. but it is still USELESS! It is a FanBoi phone. Nothing more...

this is one of the greatest phones in the market.although samsung with omnia and i8510,lg with renoir are good competitors the n95 8gb remains the king of mobile phones.the software is good, excelent 5mp camera, great multimedia experience,wi-fi,hsdpa..video and image editor,2.8 inch display...i don't understand those who are complaining about the lack of a expendable memory card.why do you need more than 8gb?it is more than enough.no camera lens cover?!protective case!it1s not perfect but by far it still is the best.good batterv life not like samsung,lg or motorola.you wan,t 8mp camera on the phone?what for?and windows mobile on a phone?please.ages pass until your phone starts and the navigation is a disaster.n 96 a total useless phone.omnia design and nothing else.inoov8 8mp poor batterv life and bulky design.

Mine is about 2weeks old. I fully charged the battery the day before yesterday overnight. Yesterday I talked on it for less than an hour, listened to 2 musics (about 3min.each), no prog is running in the back and now the battery is on 1. so I had to put it on the charger again this morning. It lasts for 1DAY - if I barely use it. If I would watch a movie I would need to charge it twice a day. This is a brand new Nokia N95-4, with a Nokia battery. My last Nokia product in my life!
After using it for a few days the slider's already loose.
The lens has no cover so it has fingerprints all the time. No mem. card so I cannot just transfer or copy my stuff freely I need an installation CD and a usb cable with me all the time. That's also bad if you sell it, all your info will stay on it unless you secure erase it. BTW this is the 2nd phone. The 1st had a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. I called Nokia, they said too bad we can't help bc I didn't buy it directly from them. That phone was new, had ZERO minutes. Poor quality, terrible battery life, bad design, worst customer service ever and too expensive. Cost $500 in the US. The GPS is a joke. I hate iphone but that one has an easy to use GPS vs the n95.
I thought it was a good idea to buy this bc it has a good camera, good multimedia options, and has working 3G in the US, Wlan, nice display.. but now that i'm using it I see more cons than pros. Too bad there is no manufacturer with a decent phone out there for the US market...

I wrote some time ago about the phone. I'm not configuring anymore, by the way, I bought the phone for about $500, I was worried about the China slip, but the fact was it was stripped. For some people this is even better... no video's, no games, no presets. I can only imagine the phones those people have that say it's bad. I was even able to give my Nikon digital to my daughter. Sound is good enough for me (the supplied earphone cord is too short). However setting the phone and playing music through it's speakers is great...

So there is the negative, short earphone cord. If this bothers you.. don't buy this phone:) Also, if shopping, get smart on the China slip. WiFi and Bluetooth are weak, if even non existent, or just say error. Once again, I feel it is too much phone for me still. Be careful if you struggle with technology. On the good side, all the settings, from MMS to Internet to Wifi are seamless. Phone does it's own config, without the message from your carrier. I use 3 carriers and this phone sets everyone up and knows what to do.... OK a triple sim 95? I'm dreaming:)

you said that you can't afford N79 or n85 but still your plan to buy N95 8gb or n96. Strange. N79 and N85 is cheaper than either N95 8gb or n96.

Bought one, it was factory sealed.I open it and on the middle of the screen there is a dead pixel. So much for Quality control at Nokia. I called nokia cust. serv. They said they don't care bc the phone wasn't from them. It's a new phone, w/ZERO minutes but they don't care. OK. I called the seller, finally he sent another one. Also factory sealed, brand new. This one crashes couple times a day but most importantly it shuts off every day without any warning! From full battery, to empty in less than a day without even using the phone. For hours I had no clue it wasn't even on. It is the worst, unrealiable phone I have ever owned - and I had plenty. btw. it has the latest FW.
For 500USD this should not happen. If I buy a phone for 20 bucks that is how much I expect, but this is unacceptable from a 5K unit. Plus nokia's attitude towards a new phone is a joke. They should stand behind their mistakes.
For 500 you get NO auto rotate, NO lens cover, no card (I do not care the onboard mem. I will not carry an install CD and a usb cable everywhere in my pocket.. not everyone has bluetooth or infra on their computer) plus the mem. card with a firmw. could be pushed to 16gb. 8gb is not that much if you have some movies, music photos on the phone, if you want to use the video rec. you only have a few minutes left...
So at the end... I'm left with a new phone (used 1hr30min.) what I can use for paper weight.
