iolo003, 07 Nov 2008wrong, N96 was not overhype, its underated by haters in thi... moreyou said, "it just so happened that N96 targeted a wider consumer, people who likes TV and Video more than camera so it gain more attention than innov8." most people who buy n96 don't use it for video and tv. the main selling points of n96 are not demanded by the people who buy it. they don't even ask for it. n95 8gb is already a very great video/media player, and so is n95. and mobile tv? there is even no dvb-h service in the united states nor there will ever be in the future. even in uk where nokia is popular, dvb-h is not yet widespread. ive never seen anybody in this thread who praises n96 because of its video and tv functions. there are even a lot of people who don't know what dvb-h is. so how come video and tv will be much more desired by people than 8mp camera? people just like this phone because it is named "n96." and they hate it because it has nothing much more to offer considering its hefty price.

i've had the n96 for about 3 weeks, my previous one was the n95. i love the 96 , only problem is compatibility issues with the 903 bluetooth stereo headset. other than this i have no crash issues.its a great phone easier to use than the n95 especially when using web based applications. well done nokia.

but be worned.....you hav 2 knw wat you looking 4....
1)the international verssion of the phone (not chinees or american)
2)all the accessories are there
3)the phone hasnt been used
4) that the seller is trust worthy and will live up2 the 1year warenty...
if all is ok then its safe 2 buy the phone..for the most resonable price in south africa.....

The Samsung is equal to or better than the N96 at video, it is available with the same memory (16GB + microSD expansion), runs the same OS and will play all the same video formats as the N96 on a screen exactly the same size, the Samsung also has a faster processor and bigger battery which helps with playback.
The only thing that is different is the TV tuner on the N96, which only works in limited areas where the network supports it.

BATMAN, 07 Nov 2008in sa dis abt R7000The phone costs R10 750....on pay as you go 4 MTN...and some cell phone shops.....
On voda,cell c and Virgin its Not released yet.....its only available on MTN....4 contract....and pay as you 4 when asked 4........lol...R10 750....
And no R7 000 is only on the black market or third party sellers....where some phones are grey phones some Chinees versions and some american.....yet i havnt bought a phone from a service provider...only from 3rd party sellers....in Bruma Market....

The N95 was a great phone, but they've tried to bring out an even better one. Well they didn't. I work in this business, and i'm not found of this phone! It is accually overated, and it's not overhyped. They tried to bring out a similiar phone like the N95 but with an other design and much more functions.
Too bad that didn't really work out.
It's not a bad phone, but you can find lots of cheaper phones that are better than the N96...

What were they thinking when they made this phone???
That's big question everyone is asking themselves. The phone is almost bigger than a PDA! And that's not a great thing. The functions are good, ok no negative points there. But the design sucks, the keys suck, and lots of other stuff that are just crap!
This phone was a big ZERO for nokia... :(

the N96is crap i have had it 2 weeks and all it does is frezze and turn its self off even the ring tones dont even work when someone calls stay away from n series .

The next battle, 5800 XpressMusic VS the rest of touch devices. Its now a revelation that 5800 made a stirr all over the mobile world. Will it transform and outsold every touch devices in the market, my prediction, YES, it can even outsold all the sales of other touch devices combined.

OMG! this phone is SO MUCH OVERHYPED. it's overhyped simply because of its name, "N96", just like why iPhone is overhyped because of its name! and it's oh so super expensive, 900 dollars for NOT the best mobile phone! i'd rather spend 1,000 dollars for the best mobile phone, INNOV8, than 900 dollars for the not-even-good N96! it's a waste of money! every site i come across is proclaiming, "Samsung INNOV8 is currently the best all-round multimedia device!" and this "N96 is the most overhyped!"

same old software problems .. freezing crashing switching off between calls dropping calls ... nokia has lost it... stay away from N series guys..

working for the carphone warehouse we handle many different phones coming in for repair... the nokia n96 has had more returns with faults than we sell ... my vote goes to the iphone ... we haven't seen one faulty iphone apart from customers cracking there screens .
