i just hate all of you people saying this phone is crap...must have xenon flash... blah blah blah...

Could u ever name a phone that has all this features in this compact size? Duh! u couldn't even name one!

DVBH + 16GB + HSDPA + VGA 30 FPS CAMCORDER ETC... NO phone matches all these FEATURES!
WAKE UP! WAKE UP! U DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT U ARE SAYING...

And for people who says this phone was not a worthy upgrade over n95 8gb - CLEARLY u dont know how to COMPUTE!

n95 8GB to N96 have MORE INCREMENTS or CHANGES than n95 to n95 8GB! see my comparison...

    n95 ---> n95 8GB (changes)

    8GB internal memory,
    128 mb RAM
And the PAGING thing(forgot the exact term)
    that's all!

memory card slot and lens cover was even REMOVED!-what a pity! the Menu layout was changed too

    n95 8GB ---> n96 (changes)
    16GB internal memory
    DVBH
    DUAL LED FLASH
    MICROSD SLOT
PORTRAIT AND LANDSCAPE MODE GAMING PLUS DEDICATED CONTROLS (the n95 8gb has portrait only and dont have the comfortable gaming experience)
MEDIA KEYS in PORTRAIT MODE! (again this adds more ease while u are using the phone for music playing! opening the slider several times just to change track is really ANNOYING!)
3.5 MM JACK was moved at the top for easy access and handling while the phone is in the pocket
KICKSTAND (i know this is maybe a small thing but THIS REALLY MAKES A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN THE COMFORTABILITY IN WATCHING VIDEOS!)

Other changes include decrease in THICKNESS, and increase in height! - personally i would want a phone that is thinner but taller than a phone which is thicker and shorter - why? because it's much easier to hold in the hand!

to people who says "why is there no xenon fflash"- hig current dual led flash is actually better than xenon... need explanation? http://www.mobilehandsetdesignline.com/193401161;jsessionid=ZXCGQKPCZ5VWIQSNDLPCKHSCJUNN2JVN?pgno=1

And to all people who says NOKIA SUCKS!... u are simply HYPOCRITES! NOKIA has the largest market share! they hold about 40+ percent of the entire market! EVEN IF YOU COMBINE THE SHARES OF SAMSUNG, MOTOROLLA, AND SONYERICSSON THEY WOULD NOT EVEN BEAT NOKIA! THAT'S REALLY PATHETIC! THREE MANUFACTURERS(actually four because sony and ericsson merged) could not even beat NOKIA! I guess that would explain everything!

NOKIA is simply the BEST and LEADING cellphone manufacturer!

The n95 is difficult to improve on. Probably the best all round mobile ever made.

16GB internal memory and DVB-H TV broadcast receiver impressive but what else?

        Nothing everything remains the same!

Possible improvements could have been DAB radio, touch screen and maybe a higher picture camera. The design is nothing spectacular either but I will probably end getting one on my next upgrade, but come on Nokia you can do better next time!

Great!!! in the first glance simply eye catching. A touch screen feature along with a xenon flash could have made the phone absolutely complete.

A poorly executed phone, sliding mechanism like N95 will get worn out in minutes if not seconds. Speaking from personal experience, the slider mechanism of E65 platform (on 2 stainless steel circular rails) is superb and smooth as compared with N96's plastic.

atleast a VGA screen would have been nice... not to mention touch screen could have been even better.

FM Transmitter to transmit music over local area would make it the ultimate killer phone (especially considering the iPhone)

oh... where is the xenon flash? and what about the battery... just 900 mAH!...

good on features, poor execution. yet still....
                Design 2
                Features 5
                Performance 3 (poor battery life)

Nokia don´t like camera, because don´t improve camera with optical zoom and xenom flash. It´s very bad because this cel is almost perfect (wifi-tv-fm-gps). No have other cell completly.

It's N81 in the shell of an N95 8G. Doesn't have the same impact as when N95 was first announced. The reason? It's the same old ****. Who needs TV on their phones when it is more convenient to watch on a normal TV? I don't know if this is a gaming machine or what. It does not appeal to me at all. I'd rather buy a PSP, a Nokia 1200, a Canon Ixus 75 with 7.1 megapixels. I don't need a phone which tries to squeeze in all the great features in one device because the result does not provide utmost performance to the device and satisfaction to consumers.

its an amazing fone.i have both a n95 and the 8gb version.but the 16gb plus external memory unlike the n95 8gb is appealing.the design inspired from the n81.bring it on nokia.
P.S. i would have liked atouchscreen interface
