the n96 is a great phone you can update it by pressing *#0000# and get the latest firmware update directly from the internet on your phone or use wifi just use your normal gprs internet you can also get cool app from ovi or getjar.com aslo to update it you can go to utillies and then click on device manager then select update and choose an internet connection whether wifi 3g or gprs hope this imformation is use full to many of you

Links!, 08 Mar 2010Please think about this decision carefully. I bought this p... moretry to reformat yr N96.. enter *#7370# and put yr lock code.. i did this and,,,,wow... it became xtremely fast and the battery life,,no eorries!! this may b due to viruses in the phone memory... good luck!!

with the DVB-H receiver is the part that makes this unit a great unit, download a good video converter and the video's turn out perfect. Sure the battery life is a major draw back, but i can live with that!

I bought this phone and I must say that if it had a larger battery and faster processor then maybe. I had this phone for 6 months and suffered with constant slowdowns and recharging the phone. I sometimes recharged it twice a day or more. I even had the brightness set to as low as possible so I could extend the battery. Its not that I ran more than one app at a time . This phone is painfully slow and the only thing that the newest firmware fixes is the camera quality which is much improved and quicker. If you like the dual slide phone then check out the Nokia N85 or N86. But look somewhere else. Even with all the extras like the tv cables and car charger which you will have constantly plugged in because of the POOR battery life.

Iam just having this awesome phone. but its a second hand to me. just wondered, if i format and upgrade the firmware, with lower version, just in case i want it to be prepare before i upgrade the latest firmware, does it effect my phone perfomance? because the last firmware i see on this phone is not valid with any number firmware on any forum.. including this gsm arena n96 forum..(my n96 is not china phone already check with international numeric number for nokia its appear n96) or worse, if i realy want to update it, will it damage the software?
Really need you'll opinian...
