and check whether it has network problem if less network is showing then call to service provider and make complaint of it. it's also is root cause of battery consumption

Menu -> Setting -> Phone-> Network -> Select Network Mode to UMTS
Please Check network on home screen it will show network with 3g if not then call your network provider and ask them to enable 3g service which is free.
