.need.to.know.basis., 13 Dec 2009i'm in need of useful/constructive replies though not urgen... moreQuestion 1: yes, the "cleaner" the mobile phone prior to firmware update, the better the performance. this is based on several subjective observations by phone enthusiast. it's recommended that you do this the first time you get hand of the phone when you haven't loaded apps and other pieces of information.

Question 2: fumbly? the phone is meant to be one-handed. if you have large fingers, you'll appreciate the wide spaced number keys. If you're the type of person who types using two thumbs on a T9 keypad, that is also possible.

Well, have been using N96 for like 8months now. initially when i started using it. I got frustrated because it normally hangs and sometimes goes off. But after updating it to firmware 30.033 version...then i was able to see the different side of it....so far so good. it is the best phone i have ever used, when it come to entertainment there is no dull moment with this phone. In fact for maximum enjoyment. try to get an extra original Nokia battery. It is my best companion. kudos to N96. Merry Xmas to all

Well i have n96 wich i simply love, i have iphone 3gs 32 gb and i have SE Satio too. I must say how practical Nokia is, i use it as mass storage, navigation, phone mail reader, pics are grate batery life well so so, screen is grate. Only thing i hate is the damn firmware,i conect the phone to pc and it delets my themes and slows down my phone, when i put thems on phone is 4 times slower then normal. But i am selling satio and iphone and nokia stays :)

Merry Christmas to Nokia N96 the king of phones. It is still unbeatable and has all the future technologies. It is a computer, digital camera, digital television and all about multimedia. I am proud to celebrate this Christmas with this extraordinary and expense phone in Ghana, wish Nokia all the best next year.
Merry Christmas to everyone and God be with as all.

Girlfriend has N96 and is having trouble sending text, is there a simple solution to this or is it another technical fault waiting for updates to resolve.

should be straight forward replying to a text sent but not so with this phone.

                              any help? kind regards O!.

i'm in need of useful/constructive replies though not urgent from you guys/gals smartphone gurus specifically HAPPY N96 users if i may.while i've been part PC hardware/tweaks enthusiast,i can't really say i've been into smartphones that much due to my shall we say "suspicion" at the market prices' bang for buck ratio.call me conservative but only right till this year that i'm comfortable enough to see the recent fast tech developments in the area to justify these too close to notebook PC prices for smartphones.well that's a long intro so...

...i'm actually saving up for any newer 2010 android models like maybe the rumored nexus one (google phone) or the htc bravo.but recently a relly of mine rang and she's on a foreign assignment and saw a nice offer for an N96.she's getting 1 for me because she thought i might be interested to give a symbian phone top to bottom tweaks;ya know stuff like changing product codes, trying diff firmwares that sort of thing.granted that it's a way too old symbian version of a phone but hey it's free and on the usability aspect,i might just be able to delay my own target smartphone purchase if even for a short time.

                                    so my questions are:-
                                    1. i've been googling and lurking in forums.curiously almost all "1st time guides" recommends a thorough reformatting of the phone's memory + mass memory BEFORE the firmware update?is the default firmware that bad?how or why is this important on the efficiencies part?will future micro SD add-on i'm planning on bog down that effort for speed?

                                    2. on a more practical day to day usage basis, how "fumbly" is this phone 1 or 2 handed?will it require heavy customizations to help either way?

that's all and thank you so much for bearing with me :)
