This is very nice phone, and now even in steel, and it's complete mini LapTop that it does lot more,
but to be honest there is one other better phone with better specs than all this phones users is fighting here!
The Eten glofiish V900, has better screen size, TV-receiver, DVB-t, DAB, FM and FM-transmitter, very speedy one 3D graphics and all this specifications that will bet all this phones, of course the iphone crap to!

I want a traditional phone, a candybar or slider or clamshell phone with an alphanumeric keypad and NOT a wide touchscreen with a Qwerty keyboard. I'd rather buy a Sony VAIO laptop than N97!

This phone is definitely not for me! I just hate touchscreen phones. Nokia N85 is the right phone for me. N85 looks good and decent. While N97 looks like an Eseries type of device because of that Qwerty keyboard. I just hate to see a Qwerty keyboard on a mobile phone. That's so awful. That's not eyecandy. N85 is better.

The BEST phone ever to hit the markets this phone will cause a great stir just like the nokia N95 did when it was first announced. It packs in everything a mini laptop could have, and has the the features even a president of a country would find handy, as for the iphone 3g its a good phone in software, screen and touchscreen, otherwise the other features are quite nothing new and there is still so much room for improvement, the only way i still hold onto my iphone 3g is for the simple fact i have jailbroken it to get more apps and features such as mms, video camera and camera with zoom and so forth, i dont have to jailbreak any nokia n-series phone to access features like that, nokia thinks ahead of the rest and will always be on top for many years to come and besides they dont need to follow everyone else on the market and release the same phone like everyone else they are smart and can develop new concepts and technology to stay number one, a phone that has touchscreen doesnt mean its a better phone actually more problems can occur, but n97 has best of both worlds so if your not touchscreen orientated then you have the key board. GOOD LUCK TO NOKIA and keep up the GREAT WORK!!

Nothing special...unimpressive. Once again, the Nokia N series suffers from cheap build-quality. Glossy plastic, wobbly sliding mechanism...do I need to say more?

Were there not rumours that Apple might be coming out with a phone with slide out keyboard by the middle of next year? If they are able to throw in a good camera, this will be enough to throw nokia off.

Moreover, Samsung has been very aggressive in their product strategy. Their product cycles have been reduced. By March or April next year, they would have released the successor to Omnia, which could be a 5 megapixel camera with slide out keyboard or a 8 megapixel camera touchscreen phone with windows or symbian (though i am unsure how Samsung is doing with symbian touchscreen).

LG will be releasing Prada with 5 megapixel camera and slide out keyboard this month. It does not have an os, but that should come by mid next year.

By June next year, Nokia N97 is frankly not going to be very unique.

Nokia bribes, copies Windows Mobile and buys their own puppet-Symbian
New slogan of Nokia is now "Nokia - Copying People" apparently. Why innovate when you can copy? The Nokia N97, that Nokia announced today at Nokia World event in Barcelona, EU, is actually a copycat of an old Windows Mobile phone - HTC TyTN II:

                      Furthermore Nokia also:
... bribed several journalists and bloggers by paying for their flights to Barcelona, hotel rooms, food and free demo units of various Nokia devices - not that it is anything new here, but it is worth noticing how many journalists do not disclose at all who paid for their stay at Nokia World.

... completed purchase of Symbian Ltd. - previously Nokia owned only "part" of Symbian but de-facto it was fully controled by Nokia. We were the only publication that was claiming that Symbian is not an independent consortium but just a puppet of Nokia and now the final ultimate confirmation of this claim has materialized. We were right all the time!

... launched Nokia Messaging that is trying to mimick what RIM BlackBery and MS Exchange are doing: push email.

... launched Nokia Maps that is trying to mimick 3D functionality and other features of Google Maps and Microsoft Live Search Maps..Commentary: Nokia still has the biggest market share in the smartphone market globally, but this share is dropping significantly due to huge sales of Apple iPhone and soon it will shrink even more thanks to Google Android. Furthermore in USA - the biggest economy in the world - Nokia's market share in smartphones is tiny and Nokia lags there behind both Apple iPhone and Windows Mobile. New Nokia N97 has no multi-touch and its design is carbon copy of old HTC design. Conclusion: truly Nokia's new slogan should be "Nokia - Copying People".

Why 3G at all? Who cares about 3G? It's expensive and pointless!

it says in the review it has the bands to do worldwide. I don't see any bands fitting either AT&T or T-Mobile for US.
