Anonymous, 21 Nov 2009how do u dial on this phone? and is there anyway to txt wit... moreTo call someone from your contacts list, you can press the green softkey at the bottom and your last dialled numbers (I think it's 20 numbers) will come up. If you want to dial one of these, you just scroll down to it then press the green softkey again. If you want to dial a contact not on the list, you tap on the contact icon and again press the green softkey again. Lastly, if you want to dial a phone number not on your contact list, from the home screen you tap on the dialler pad in icon in the middle of the bottom of the screen, then press the number and tap on the green call button again. As for texting without using the keyboard, you can use the touchscreen in both landscape and portrait mode, however the virtual keyboard is not full QWERTY, so you have to text the good ol' way.

hi friends, i owned n97 n updated its firm ware to latest version but it shows a problem regularly in old as well as new firm where which is sometimes its keypad n touch screen does not work mostly in sms but work fine in other applications n when i restart the fone it work fines but it shows that problem 2-3 times a day n i m now exhausted of dis problem so any one can help me plz or i shud exchanged it...

This phone has huge capability's of which it meets none of them, I'm currently on to my 3rd N97 which still crashes 7 times a day where I have to turn the phone off and back on again to get it to work again, very frustrating when you go to answer a call and it freezes on you so you can't answer it, happens a lot. People will say this will all be fixed when I update the firmware, well when I updated the firmware to V.12 I lost the capability of using the WLAN on the phone and they said it will be fixed in the next update so after waiting another month for V.20 then updating I still dont' have any Wireless and now on top of that I can't make any calls. Rang Nokia, they said I needed to do a HARD RESET on the phone so I backed everything up using PC Suite and after doing the HARD RESET the phone seems to be working a little better but now I can't restore the backup so as of this point I have lost of my important Calendar entries and notes from wordpad. My wife and friends all brought this phone with high expectations but all have had the same problem. What I can't understand is why Nokia would release such a dud software package that obviously wasn't beta tested for flaws. STRONGLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PHONE!!!
If you read this Nokia please reply with some solutions for me.

Just bought a Nokia N97 just now and it's my first 30 minutes of the phone. I updated it to v.12 via FOTA and now there's Kinetic scrolling at the NSU. Im currently downloading the update and as of writing it's 16MB of 140MB. YEY Kinetic Scrolling.
PS: Nokia N97 is so big

i was about to buy this phone but when i looked at the slide back, you can see the ribbon for the screen and that changed my mind, i'll just wait for the n900 to come out here in my country...

my uncle has this phone, i used it and tried it out, hated it, so annoying, not a good phone at all for its class, nokia is going down hill, there is any really good model from nokia, hence i and every one else prefers HTC and Blackberrys these days !!!
