I love my N97 I don't have any problems with this device, technology is only made for those who know how to use it as for those who don't stop moaning and use your brain lol.

I have to say the mobile is really attractive, but I regret immediately when I got it. There are too many problems:
1) The maps cannot be open some time, the progress bar always stops at 30% or 90%.
2) The alarms delays 3~4 minutes, and sometimes doesn't ring!
3) When battery exhausted, if you charge the phone, the screen is light always, and it's never goes to normal mode. You can't use your phone during charging time!
4) The lock/unlock key doesn't work well some time.
5) The touch screen is not sensitive. I think IPhone's touch screen is much better!
6) If you visit many web pages, and want to go back, the old page has to be reload. This costs money!

This is such a beautiful device. specially now with the v20 update. i guess the only problem i'm still facing is coverage. The phone reception is really bad. I still wonder wether it is because the phone came straight from asia and I use it in toronto or it's just a general problem. Any ideas or feedbacks from someone who is going trought the same situation

I guess the only thing left to do is take it back to the shop you bought it and ask them to fix or at least diagnose the problem. I haven't been able to get the update yet either. Don't worry, it will come. Apparently the update is only available for unlocked phones at the moment, so if you're with a carrier it might take some time. Just keep checking every week or so.

it is really changed my mobile to different device.

I have this Phone on v12.. and I do get more than 44MB on C: I have about 49MB left after installs.
I hope it clears more space than 44MB.

WOW. thank God for Nokia. just got the update last night and i got 44 MB, yes 44MB of free space.
This Heaven sent phone is even faster now!!!
Kinectic scrolling is a joke for this thing.
Image and video stability a whole lot better.
album pics display in Music and you see every letter (A-Z) wen scrolling , just like an ipod)
Font is also larger in Music
New apps are added also.
Photo Browser has kinectic scrolling too and displays the month which the pic was taken, just like the music.
You dont need the shift button anymore(blue button), just press down keys for half a second.
I love dis new firmware and i wouldnt trade my N97 for anything in this world. Trust me. i got this update and I'm all the way in the Caribbean, so every one should be able to get it. I download it on Windows 7, but XP is the best to download on. Vista always displays some error message(dont know why)

firmware v20 is avilable only for
silected product code.....why....?????
my product code is 0587488 and i am not able to
update my n97 with v20.....
nokia....wake up....
other wise you lost your several customer.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Around INR 32000/-. Definitely recommended. Over iPhone 3GS as now it comes with kinetic scrolling. Or you can wait for N97 mini which would be cheaper hopefully.

N97 Firmware 2.0 is out today! It's only available for unlocked version and unbranded. The rest has to wait few more weeks, depending on the country and operator.
New updates and key features include kinetic scrolling, improve battery life, increase memory, new apps etc.

I'm on my 4th N97, the first three have all had hardware failures (battery, gps etc) and now my 4th (which just had V12 released only a week ago) is PAINFULLY slow, camera lens has self destructed, gps takes 5-10min for a lock (if it even gets one, that's sitting next to my girlfriends Samsung HD, which gets a lock in 10-15 seconds) if i'm moving it WILL NOT get a lock. If it was only software issues i'd persevere with the phone as I love it's features and form BUT the hardware of the phone is not only VERY outdated (most phones in the same price range have minimun 2xRAM and 1.5-2x CPU processing power and many have openGL accel) BUT not only is it outdated the build quality is very dubious given my many hardware failures (and no it's not bad treatment, straight out of the box the failures have occurred and phone has been returned within 2 weeks each time) I think I shall have to say goodbye to symbian and nokia until they get their act together, after having a terrible experience with a (Very early) N95 and now this, I find it hard to believe that they are doing anything but purely selling phones based on their once good name.
