ames, 15 Oct 2009hi winura, coulsd you pls tell me everything bout n97. For ... moreAmes,

The batter of the N97 is quite good. I find it marginally better than iphone 3g (not sure about 3gs).
As for lagging - on the most recent firmware (v12) it doesn't lag that much. The phone is able to multitask (whereas the iphone doesn't really do that), which of course, depending on how many things you're doing at once, might slow the phone down. In my experience when I have 2-3 web pages open, music player in the background, and chatting to 2-3 people over Nimbuzz, and maybe receive a call while I'm doing the above, the phone handles it very well and I don't get any lag. If you do a lot more multitasking than this, then you probably will (best wait for the N900 maybe - looks like it was built for multitasking!).

I've had the N97 for approximately 3 weeks now and cannot understand the following:

Ovi Suite works nicely, however, when I drag a mp4 movie across, it converts it to avi format which it should. i can understand that it will take appx 1.3hours to convert. it converts the file and it shows on my phone as downloaded file, under videos. i play the movie, and the quality is ok, but for some apparent reason, the movie just dissapears off my phone some hours later. i try to locate the file through my pc in mass storage and cannot find it anywhere, and when i disconnect and want to delete the file through the phone, it tells me : "general:in use". i thought this was an isolated incident, but its happening all the time. - its taking up space on the phone, but its not showing. a friend of mine has this problem on 5800 music express as well. can any one help - and btw, i have downloaded all latest software updates from nokia. thanks. adam

Did you do a update the firmware before deciding on sending it for repairs? Most people who have updated their N97 soon after buying it haven't experienced many problems as the current firmware is much more stable than the original one.

ames, 15 Oct 2009hi eric, thanks for ur advice. i will keep my iphone but i ... moreThe battery of the N97 is quite good, way better than that of the N96! It is good enough to last you a day with extensive use. For example, I use the GPS in the morning while using the FM Transmitter to play music through my car's radio for about 45 minutes or so and by the time I get to work, not even a single battery bar has moved! Now how do you like that?

ames, 14 Oct 2009hi,can anyone tell me how is the battery life for moderate ... moreI recommend you this phone over the iPhone 3G which lacks almost all basic features which nokia provides free of charge without PAID firmware upgrades. iPhone may have a better screen as some people claims but thats all you get. and true, you get hell of a lot of applications for the iphone but most of them are utterly useless. even in the 3Gs there are a lot of things missing.

N97 is worth every cent you pay.

tokiya03, 14 Oct 2009hi... im planning to buy this fown.. cab anyone tell me how... moreHi tokiya,

N97 has a very decent 5MB camera but N82 of course has a far more superior camera because it is its main key feature.

For music wise N97 can be easily compared 5800 as well. However 5800's speakers are generally louder than N97's.

Either way N97 is a very decent phone that has a good camera, sound quality and a faster speed than 5800.

ames, 14 Oct 2009hi,can anyone tell me how is the battery life for moderate ... moreHi ames,

I am a N97 user myself and I don't recommend you switching from iPhone to N97.

Reason is iPhone is using capacitive touch while N97 is using resistive touch. Capacitive responds through touch through finger tips and does multitouch. Resistive touch responds through pressuer thus you can use any object to interact but it doesn't do multitouch.

iPhone has built-in 3D engine which means it supports 3D graphics that appear on most of the apps. Apps on iphone is easier to develop due to its back-end nature so you will easily find more free apps for iphone compare to N97 which is using symbian.

N97 can do multitasking, has physical qwerty keyboard, a pretty decent 5MB camera, good sound quality, which iPhone is lacking of.

Both phones serve different purpose I think. it might be hard for you to switch over to symbian platform. So I would suggest you stay with iPhone first. You decide.

nasa, 14 Oct 2009hello all please can any body advise me should i get this... moreHi nasa,

N97 is actually a quite decent phone. While it is true that the original firmware is not stable as it should be but Nokia has released few firmwares and the last one v1.2 has made the phone pretty stable and on top of that, the new firmware v2.0 will be released on 15th Oct for Asia, else where will be few days later.

About the skype, yes there is a free skype app for N97 but you can only login after you choose your country and the countries listed are quite limited. I cannot recall what are the available countries. It doesn't have mine, Singapore.

This comment was posted on Oct 12th..... Buyer beware!!

I bought a n97 on the 23 Sept 2009, I am now on my 4th n97 as at 9th Oct. They are dreadful, they crash.... regularly and then programs run in the background, unknown to the user, and flatten the battery. They won't respond to bluetooth Voice recognition 50% of the time, mainly because the default is VERY poor English, and worse still, that can't be changed. On top of which it regularly won't ring, it just vibrates, so many calls are missed. Minus 9 stars!!
