It has too many glitches:
On buying a new sealed set, the software needed reloading for qwerty keys were malfunctioning and some keys did not work;
The battery refused to cutoff during charging and as per advice I allowed the battery to fully drain and recharge. It re-charged but the set has gone dead and refused to come on or recharge. Another software error within a week of buying the set. I wonder why Nokia does not give me a replacement set or even remove such major glitches?

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2009Well the hardware of the iPhone 3GS is obviously better tha... moreWho cares about those toys, I'm talking processing power, you know to provide the grunt to run business applications.

Based on your criteria the Samsung HD is "streets ahead" of this junk.

"Well everybody is talking about N97 vs iPhone. Let me first introduce myself, I'm Sean from Massachusetts. Well I'm a 4th year student of Massachusetts institute of technology. Me along with my friends have tested both these phones and we have found out that the N97 is streets ahead of the new iPhone. The only fault that the N97 has is it's operating system runs on Symbian S60. The N97 will be very hard to beat if it's operating system was running on Windows Professional. So there is no doubt when it comes to N97 vs iPhone that who's in the lead."

they'll let anyone into MIT these days!

Well the hardware of the iPhone 3GS is obviously better than the N97, which leaves the software, which as you already said S60 is not very good, obviously means the N97 is a long way from being "streets ahead".

What? What?!! Do u know anything bout the N97? Hardware wise N97 annihilates the iphone. It is ahead by a country mile.
            -Better screen (640x360)
            -5 mega cam vs 3.2mega
-Better Video, (various videos on youtube show this)
            -Full Qwerty (vs nothing)
-Memory Card Slot (expand to 48-64Gb)
-Secondary VGA camera for face-to-face calls.
-Better battery life (compare via gsmarena)

the debate over capacitive and resistive is subjected to different opinions. Nokia feels resistive is better suited so they go for it, each has its pros and cons.

As far as running Windows Mobile on an N97 goes it just doesn't have the processing power to make it a good experience.

I wonder WHEN I can have the perfect phone: the one that will have absolutely NO complains about anything, size, weight, keypad, joystick, landscape, compass, GPS, touch response, easy to navigate customisable UI, fast and stable OS, email, sms/mms, HD video, HD playback, HD radio, stereo BT for all apps, real time notifications for all apps, fast multitask for at least 20 apps, battery for 2 days with 1 hr GPS, 2 hr full desktop view web browsing with flash, applets, 2 hr gaming, 2 hr of mp3, 2 hr of HD video play, 1 hr of HD recording and photo with flash, 1 hr phone call, 1 hr email/sms/mms, 1 hr just turning on/off for admiring such a piece of fine wireless engineering..

                                And WHEN?

With all due respect please don't make a fool out of yourself, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is the best in world. So please don't try to insult it. Well you obviously don't seem to look at every specification on each phone so I'm not going to argue with a illiterate person like you. By the way Sir, there is a option called compare when your checking a phone so please use it and then reply. Thank You

N900 has ALL of those, and in fact, there is NOT a single spec on the N900 which is superior on Iphone. N900 on the other hand beats alot of the Iphone hardware, including camera, screen and memory. And obviously a new and fresh GUI, which even eclipses what the current Symbian (or the slightly gimped Android) is capable of.
