jp, 15 Jul 2009hi all... I updated my N97 to V 11 but... as expected sti... moregive nokia more than 1 second to improve the N97 firmware. just like ifans Are waiting for apple to give them multitasking, bluetooth file trenafering, and no more app store restriction

hi all...
I updated my N97 to V 11
but... as expected still no SKYPE and all the annoying bugs are still there. And the most annoying of all is... having to click the menu or volume buttons to get the screen to light up because touching the screen does nothing.
and it clearly says in the catalogue... tap the screen to light it up...
Anyway... is there any newer update than V 11 ???

ffs this phone was announced 8 months ago, the partnership with Skype was announced five months ago, what's the problem with the phone that they can't GET THE JOB DONE?

i bought the chine's phone and it works very good. i have being using it for nearly 3 months and no problem. can do online update also.

Got my 'white' N97 yesterday and I looooove it!!!!
Be careful though peeps when taking the back off the phone - I managed to break one of the clips. Luckily I took it straight back to the shop and they swapped it for me.
I don't have any problems up to now. The vibration in response to tapping the screen seemed a bit rattly - but I turned that off anyway. A little annoying thing is it doesn't alert you very well to missed calls or texts. All there is is a little white light that blinks slowly - but its difficult to see it in daylight.
Other than that I really like this phone and would recommend!!!

Go for the N97!
Never compare, it is the gratest smartphone ever made.
If u want a very good music phone, good camera for pictures and video,3G calls applications, easy file tranfer, streaming video's such as real,window media video,flash.. playing all types of music formats such as AAC, mp3,wma,ogg..
Go for the iphone 3Gs if u need a faster internet access,,Fashonably slikier design better touch screen and listen to only itune formats... in every other thing the N97 will kill the Iphone 3gs
The 3Gs is basically a music phone for maturing kids it is not a multi media power house like the N97
what u get on the 3Gs is itune music and a fast internet.
Every otherthing the N97 can do better
3Gs lower picture cam, average video, no radio, limited video and audio codec support..cant run 3rd party software, cant transfer files wirelessly...
the only thing compareable to the N97 is that it 2 micro sec faster than the N97 in terms of speed, and the touch screen runs a little smoother...
U cant compare the 2 phones,,, Iphone 3Gs is for growing kids that needs access to music and internet u cant even listen to your BBC radio on it which may save u your life saving for information,,,, but if u r 24 years and above u must get the N97.... Get the Iphone for ur kids and N97 for ur self.
N97 can do anything an iphone can do if not better!
The coming software updates will soon correct the little bugs left of the N97

N97 is simply the best, and with more firmare updated it will be coolest.
Now i know the reasons all the younger kids in town want an Iphone it is basically just a music phone, with internet not a multi media power house like the Nokia series were we can run home brewed apps. Kids dont also need radio because they dont listen to the current news to know about what is going on around the world.
I did not know that the Iphone 3Gs as got limited file format playback and no radio. Can't even tranfer music and various files wirelessly, Cant play many internet video streams such as WMV, flash & Real streams. 3megapix cam? The Iphone is really for young kids needing to listen music on their phone.
Kids dont have a care in the world...
That is the reason it did not come with any external memory card slut for safe keeping of important documents on MMC or SD

hi all!
i don't know that y'all have ever owned N95? If i don't remember wrong when N95 just came out, the phone had alots of bugs. There was alot of people bought N95, then they complained how bad the N95 WAS. There was alot of people bought the phone, and then they wanted to return. However, after few firmware updated, the N95 became the best phone as you guy said. It runs faster,smoother, more stable.
Now let talk about N97. The phone just came out about a month (i think not even a month), two weeks after first released, Nokia came out the first update firmware on July 1, firmware v 11.xx. I know the first firmware update can not fix all the bugs but at least nokia listen to us how bad the firmware v 10.x.xx was. TO ME, N97 has potential in future to became a very good phone after few more firmwares update. N97 WILL BE ANOTHER N95 IN NEAR FUTURE. Just give them some more time guys. Don't RUSH
Now let talk about Iphone 3GS. The truth is Iphone 3GS fast, super fast (600Mhz) and alot of ram (256MB). I can say 3GS is one of the best phone out there right now. Iphone 3GS and N97 have the good side and the bad side. There is no phone out there PERFECT. Alot of people with mud head keep complain about N97 : slow, battery take too long to recharge, sound no good, to many bugs..blah..blah.blah..Why don't you think that iphone 3GS has alot of problem too? it's too hot (why don't you guys talking about that?) Iphone 3GS has alot of bugs;however, there is no firmware update available right now (there is no phone come out without bugs). I've read the article about in 2013 iphone will take over the nokia leader. After i read the article, i thought that was very funny and very stup$% when the writer who wrote that article. Nokia has at least 10-15 phone models a year. In almost 3 years, Iphone came out just one MODEL phone with difference name (iphone, iphone 3G, iphone 3GS). Have you ever seen any phone company come out just one model phone in 3 years WILL become a leader in phone business? I don't think so.

I've had a play around with this phone and it has a feeling of being cheap. When you slide sideways, i get the feeling that the phone will snap.
Looks cool and cool features but feels cheap.
