brynn, 11 Jun 2009In uk i was paying around 4 GBP a MB couple of years go so ... more3 years is rubbish, I used be on a month to month plan and buy outright handsets, I got nothing for it by signing up for 2 years I got a phone and pay less than I did before for more..
Now I'm paying $A20 for a GB of data, last year it was $A20 for 250MB and the year before that it was $A30 for 100MB.
There's not much wifi around here so data is essential if you want to use everything a modern phone can do.
Our PAYG rate is $A2 a MB

That's what i'm doing when i get my 5800 500mbs plus wifi for 60 bucks yo can never go wrong plus and unlocked phone for another plus :) no rogers programming to limit the phone's full potential

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2009It must be really bad for North Americans, here in Australi... moreIn uk i was paying around 4 GBP a MB couple of years go so using internet on fone was a luxury,,now thanx to some carriers on pay as you go you get average halt gigabyte for 7.50 GBP..They must have made billions overs the years, i wont go into case studys but some people have nearly died after shock of cata bills,,never mind the poor souls who have been roaming and did not know it isnt included in price plan..Also over past few days ive read how americans do not get the latest fones early on and in canada they have 3 yr contracts..Now we argue about fones but being in uk i do feel for these people..

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2009Looks like att and unlocked iphone don't work to well lol p... moreIt must be really bad for North Americans, here in Australia where all three carriers sell iPhones it's just the same as any other phone, the N96 actually costs more on a contract, I'd expect the N97 will be in the same price bracket.
Since the introduction of the iPhone to Australia our data costs have dropped dramatically which flows on to users of other phones.
Our PAYG system is slowly catching up but data is still relatively expensive.
I couldn't picture using any smartphone without data, it removes the best of the functionality.
