My flex cable just went broke and I tried to fix it. I was very disappointed with what the Nokia care centre had to say, first one said if it was the flex cable it would be about 143€ to buy a new one, totally unacceptable. More than the phone is worth. So I went to a different one, and the answer was even wrost.
They told me they couldn't say me the price without leaving the phone for them to do a check up and paying 16€ tax so I did a normal question and asked if it was worst case scenario, the flex/ribbon cable how much would it cost? The answer left me stunned! «I can not say. You have to leave it here.»
How come Nokia doesn't know the price of a spare part? when I take my car to a repair shop, of course they only will know for sure what it has and how much it will cost after checking it but the mechanical always has something to say about it since the start, like «if it is this part we think it is, it costs about this much...» and so.
First time I ever used Nokia care centre and I have to say one thing, no support what so ever and they don't care about costumer.

jony, 11 Apr 2011sound quality is so goodnote really mate!
Sound quality isn't actually that great. It is ok, it is even good but I also have a Sony Ericsson W980 which is cheaper and sounds even better. So to be fair, sound quality is ok but nothing to write home about...

Anonymous, 11 Apr 2011i*ve got my n97 from mars 2010 and so far i*m satisfied ...... moreLOL
You must be joking... you really must be joking!
Seriously, I was finding your review interesting and was about to agree with you but when you said the N97 had a 2 week stand-by time... DUDE! You just blew it! It is obvious you don't have or ever had an N97 our you would know it is absolutely impossible to it to go for 2 weeks in stand-by even if you let him sit and don't do a thing with it! C'mon!
Even with moderate use and putting it into off-line mode at night the best I get is 3 days, and all my friends with it get the same.
Photos could be good but compression is so High they end up looking worst then my K810i at 3.2mpx and that is a waste of camera. GPS signal is a disgrace! It never can get position!
And charging time... oh my God! It takes forever! Species evolve in less time! If I would count how many times I am ready to live my house and I have to wait because my n97 is charging for hours and still not fully charged...
Keypad is ok but the symbol key is placed too close to the Caps key and I keep pressing it by accident all the time.
2 other thinks which let this phone down: signal strength is not that good compared with my other sony phone or even with Nokia 5800 XPRESS MUSIC and Symbian is always doing mistakes like not playing the right ring tone or showing the contact photo.
Talk time, wi-fi and screen are ok. Surfing the web with wi-fi doesn't affect the battery too much which is nice.
This phone could have been great, but it is a mess.

This is more of a request than an opinion...How does one upload photo's from the Nokia N97 to the computer? There's a cord that one is given but there's no software in a form of a disk that one can upload and start uploading photo's as is the norm with other cellphone manufacturers.

I see that there are lots of negative comments on N97..
I've been using Nokia since I got my very first Nokia 3210.. Now I'm choosing between N97, X6, or the late N95(8Gb). Because N95 has a lot of positive comments.. Please help me choose guys.. I'm a gamer, and I want a phone with (somehow) a console-like form factor like the N97, more memory and more processing power.
(By the way, don't suggest to me an iPhone; because ON MY OPINION, IT SUCKS)

The crappiest phone ever!!! I was so excited for it, but when I got it, I had to take it back for a new model 3 times in 3 weeks. Major software issues, freezes, reboots @ will, touch screen pathetic. STAY AWAY!!!

Dan, 07 Apr 2011Wow this phone looks very good and i saved money for that p... moreseriously dude, don't do it.
Go for anything else. Got mine about 4 months ago and I am really disappointed.
To heavy, to unstable OS, poor battery life, takes forever to charge, bad reception, almost no gps signal, complicated to use, etc, etc, etc.
It even messes up caller photos and personalised ring tones. Just like a russian roulette...
And the camera... fine lenses but so harsh compression it ruins the photos.
Much better options on the market these days.
