It's Symbian s60v... moreAll depends what you want. Omnia has hd recording and 8 meg camera. Both screen res are the same. Omnia hd is a bit longer and wider than n97, though not as thick as n97 only because n97 has the benefit of a full slide out qwerty. N97 has handwriting rec, but i didn't see that in omnia specs. Memory is the same, i think in both phones.

I just don't like opinions based on a brand name printed on a device that automatically assumes that it's better than any other device.
I've owned and sold many different brands of phone's over the years and prefer to speak from experience rather than assumption.
Until this phone is released there is no telling what it will really be like.
btw the Apple App store just passed 25,000 available applications, not bad seeing as the SDK was only released just under a year ago and the store opened 7 months ago, Ovi will be hard pressed to match it.

It's Symbian s60v5, so will run the same software as the N97...

at least Nokia is smart 1 phone to 1 person the one that makes a good wiget will get recognition for the wiget and get the N97 with there wiget preloaded
That is more worth it cause you actually work for something

after all is said and done....after the iphone 3g and the blackberry storm and se idou and the ipaqs and htcs and the palms of this world...this is my ultimate business dream phone and im owning sooner than i can say nokia!! ....congratulations nokia...this is why you lead and the rest follow. i'm impressed!

Kinetic scrolling (also known as flick scrolling)
In our Nokia 5800 coverage, we have noted that (in terms of user experience, at least) the S60 5th Edition web browser does not measure up to Safari on the iPhone. For the 5800, this was less of an issue given the different target markets, but the same would not be true of the N97. One of the major differences is the ease of moving around web pages. Kinetic scrolling, where you 'flick' on the screen to start scrolling, makes it much easier to move around larger pages.
Support for kinetic scrolling, by no means a minor piece of software engineering, has now been added to the browser on the N97. I only saw a brief demo of this, but it is clear that it makes a significant difference to the overall browsing experience. The 'double tap' to zoom in and out of a page has also been improved, and the browser's overall performance certainly benefits from being running on better specified hardware. With this in mind, the N97, given that it will also use a 'tip of the tree' (i.e. recent) version of the WebKit rendering engine, should be able to provide a compelling browsing experience. Adding in a full QWERTY keyboard, for data entry, and a D-pad, for accurate scrolling adjustments, will not hurt either.
I would also hope we see the updated browser added to the 5800 in a future firmware upgrade.

Nokia N97 is really good phone.i-phone 3G completly gets kick out if we compare it to Nokia N97.wel m really disapoint wid 5MP camera and dual LED flash.they should given 8 or 10 Megapixel Camera wid Xenon Flash and DVB-H for watchin t.v is also important feature missing in N97 which is ther in N96.n i hope it has 600-800 MHz Processor in it for smooth working of phone.alot of people hav confusion wid its price?? so far i hav searched on internet,it says 550 Euro widout taxes and subsidy
