Allan, 16 Jan 2009$650.00 for an unlocked iphone where the wi fi can still be... moreI'm in Australia, I'm paying exactly the same as I've been paying for the last 7 years, except now I have an iPhone, can make more calls and SMS, can send thousands of emails for the cost of one MMS and have a lot more data.
An N96 would cost $20 a month more with the same amount of calls.
Where I am there is an open wifi network, it is not connected to the Internet, do you know how much that s*cks?
There is no wifi at work and the Imternet is severely restricted, I use my data all the time, that's the way it is.

Lack of 3G support, the thing that brings Linux down is a lack of driver support and manufacturers with proprietry driver software.
It takes a big investment in time to reverse engineer and come up with solutions, which volunteers want to do work on difficult and boring stuff like 3G chipset drivers?

30$ - 30 days free after 6 incoming &outgoing
7$ - 30 days mobile net monthly
10$ - 2500 text monthly
and the rest is for MMs
net is basically free since i have WiFi on my E70 XD
i just lack the 3G support and email that's about it

Rogers wireless charges $200.00 for iphone 3g on a 3 year plan of $30.00 data charges per month on top of your voice plan.
So that's $1080.00 for data plus $200.00 for the iphone 3g. 1280.00
What a rip off!

Allan, 16 Jan 2009I also don't believe in giving the cell company's anymore m... moreRemember in the summer last year when the people that had iphones complained about data costs to high for 6GBs lol and only one person in the world capped the 6 as soon as it came out XD and now that had an offer for 6GB for 30 only in the summer but now i think of it as a big waste cause the average person that uses mobile net a month is capped at 500Mbs XD

i am nokia and Sony ericsson fan. iam using the se x1 now.and i used to have n95 8gb. they both have wifi. they both are great.i dont know y pay xtra money for iphone. @ home you have computer, more faster and bigger.if you like internet , stick with tmobile for tzone.5.95 per m:onth.get x1 ,that is the great phone ever.

motorola's OS - Linux base opensource

...list goes on and linux runs on RAM not Mhz

A couple of guys at my workplace have the iphone with data plans of $30.00 extra a month and there's free wi fi there! ???
I'm sure when they go home they have a computer there!
Is it really that important to have access to the net wherever you are?? There is free wi fi here and there!

People are paying for their data plans so it would be foolish not to use it!

BTW, a lot of times people don't even know what OS their phone has. Again, a proof that most consumers are after the experience that they get when they use a phone. They'll probably say that this or that phone has excellent UI and wouldn't even know whose UI it is. Although, I doubt if Linux is truly the best. And it's very nice of you to pit everyone to Linux and deliberately omitted. Not nice =)

Allan, 16 Jan 2009Thanks for the info on dufferin mall!No prob i live pretty close to there XD there are to phone booths that sell unlocked phones and the brown guys place infront of toy'r'us sold a 5800Xm for 700 i felt really bad for the guy that bought it but at least he's happier XD

A lot of people go on about a lack of flash support, the thing is web developers adapt their sites to the iPhone, the iPhone changed the way Joe Average uses their phone.
WAP enabled phone's have been around for years as have data plans, it wasn't until the iPhone came along bundled as it is with data at Apples insistence that people rally started using the net on phone's.
This is the world changing effect the iPhone has brought about.

Thx for reminding me. Before the Treo I had a Motorola phone (linux). After my Treo and before my N95, I had a MotoRokr E6 (touchscreen, linux). Iphone's UI is so much better. Honestly, I don't care if it's linux, Mac OSX, Winmo, or Symbian. It's the USER EXPERIENCE that I would judge the phone with.
