What are the pros and cons of the iPhone:

The user interface is nice, very responsive, easy to use and very user friendly. But for a geek like me, I'm not sure about it. Too simple things doesn't make my mind. I like to change every configuration to my own taste. If the gadget is too restricted, I don't like it. The camera is very poor, low quality, no flash light. No FM radio, no bluetooth communication with other devices. You can't change the battery or have a hotswap memory. The 3G model have a very poor battery for its 3G needs. Things like MMS and video recording can be achieved with third party software, but it is not the same as have them natively. For example, the MMS messages doesn't appear in the same folder of your SMS messages... But MacOS is a very powerful platform made over an OpenBSD Unix. Mostly of iPhone's best features are because of the software, not the hardware. Anyway, we must thank Apple to wakeup the industry to new concepts in usability. They doesn't invented the touch screens, but reinvented the way we can use a mobile phone today. Using your own fingers instead of a stylus is something that nobody have took serious before.

What are the pros and cons of phones with Windows Mobile:

Like the desktop Windows, it is more buggy, less secure against viruses, uses more memory and processing power than other operating systems. Windows Mobile itself doesn't have full support to everything a phone can do, and it was originally designed to use with a stylus, not with your bare fingers. To solve this flaw, manufactures like SE, HTC and Samsung made their own interfaces running on top of it. To me this means less available memory and CPU power. Despite these issues, Windows Mobile have a lot of interesting applications, many of them for free. For corporate users, it have the best integration with Microsoft Outlook, Exchange and Office, as they all belongs to Microsoft, of course. In this case, a SE Xperia is the best option. HTC Touch Pro or HD are also good options, but their battery are rubbish compared to Xperia. Samsung Omnia could be also a very good option if it have a bigger screen resolution.

What are the pros and cons of Symbian phones:

Nokia is a bit delayed with their appearance in the market with 'finger' touch screens. The touch S60 technology is very new, so it needs some time to mature. Right now it is not so good like the Iphone UI, but it is optimized to be used with one hand. By the way, Symbian is the only operating system that born with mobile phones, unlike Windows, MacOS or Linux, that have their versions ported to the mobile world. Android is very promising, despite it is also another ported Linux system. But Symbian have the advantage of being more mature than Android. Symbian is also more tunned with the basic mobile features than any other. It is light and fast as Linux and MacOS. 70% of the world's mobile phones are running Symbian. But since it is a good operating system, it lacks a centralized software repository from Nokia, like the Apple's AppStore. There is a lot of applications, but they are dispersed and hard to find. There are really good Symbian applications, but also really bad ones too. Nokia should filter the best of them for us.

Nokia is a giant company and I like their products very much, but there is no such thing like a perfect brand or a perfect mobile phone. Even if a phone was really perfect, not everybody will love it... And is also part of the manufacturers strategy to made models missing something here and there to keep us buying... Anyway, is a very good thing when other companies come with new paradigms that break the old rules. Competition is always good and everybody wins when something happen to shake the market. You may love your mobile brand, be it Nokia, SE, Samsung, whatever, but if it was the only option available, we was still using our mobile phones just to make calls...

I would like to say about the camera and multimedia features of the top mobile phones, but is too late now and I need to sleep. Have a good night and thank you for reading!

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2008hope this phone is equip with Nvidea TegreeIf the specs published on this phone are indeed true and the Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5 is not slow like the predecessors, then I will have to concede that this will be the most powerful cell phone at that time.

the amount of megapixels does not matter in the camera of a phone, wat matters is quality of the images, the nokia n82 is still competing with the "so great" 8mp cameraphones out there, the LG renoir blown out of the water by the n82 in dark conditions, check out the review on phonearena.com, and you will see how great the n82 still is, and i should know i have 1.

Hello There, 08 Dec 2008 Good Day. Question: Is there available mobilephone th... moreSamsung have a phone like E71 form factor, with a turnable camera on top. You can point it to any angle you want. LG have also a phone like that, but in a clamshell form factor.

But the best camera phones are from Nokia and SonyEricsson. Many people here looks only to the how much megapixels a camera phone have, and forgot completely about camera's quality. Before buy a phone, take a look at picture samples taken with it. Here at GSM Arena there is a lot of picture samples in the reviews. Camera quality is much more important than resolution. The best cameras have the best optics and image stabilization.

re @ those SOON EXPIRE FNAS ( SE )
                you can't compare a EXPIRE phone to a N97

400MB for N97 is already EXPIRE
                65K color screen also EXPIRE
                3.0" screen also EXPIRE
3.2MP also EXPIRE( even though got people say N97 why's not 8MP??)

for sure, the SOON EXPIRE XPERIA is not FINAL-VERSION
the final version expected to release at FEB 2009
the SOON EXPIRE XPERIA now in the market is a PROTOTYPe,
you can don't believe me, try use it before say i lie

SOON EXPIRE also known as SONY ERICSSON
but i like to call SE as SOON EXPIRE

cause their phone are totally E.X.P.I.R.E compare to

                NOKIA
                connecting people

sandu, 09 Dec 2008Am a Nokia guy but this could be a better device. Time for ... moreThe only thing that (maybe) is better with an 8 MP camera resolution is the digital zoom. Using a camera with such resolution just to take photos for blogs or to see at your computer screen is too much. But if you want to print such photos, a good digital camera is recommended instead, because what all camera phones lacks (despite the xenon flash) is a good image stabilizer, optical zoom, and light & ambient sensors. Such sensors are only available in good digital cameras and they make a lot of difference for taking professional photos. Unfortunately no camera phone have them... At least not yet.

The only thing with the qwerty keyboard is it really makes the phones heavy, I would prefer a nokia phone without qwerty keyboard. Ill wait for the nokia n98 to come out before I update I phone (I have the nokia n96 and really like it)

Anonymous, 09 Dec 2008All Samsung has to do is install Symbian on an Omnia and up... moreWhat I miss more on Samsung and LG touchscreen phones is a bigger screen resolution. It is much better to navigate the Internet with a screen bigger than 400 x 240 pixels.
