I rather buy a Pentium m laptop instead of lavishing my earnings on a phone dat will soon lost.

Anonymous, 31 Oct 2009if it's smaller would it be crampy to use the keyboard? In the series of Maemo MIDs, Nokia had n810 followed by n900. The keyboard layout of n810 is same as N97 easily identified by the presence of d-pad on the left. But Nokia didnt repeat the same layout in n900 even though MIDs are huge in mobile terms with large screens. The n900 keyboard layout is seen in N97 mini. This layout in N97 mini is not due to the small size of the phone but seems to be an improved design.

I have been a fan of Nokia since 1995. Have only used their top of the line models. The last was the N95 8GB. A model that I felt finally fulfilled all my requirements... and I use almost all features.

Around 3 months ago I switched to the N97. Loved the look and feel of the handset. It was one of the most disappointing phones. Slow... buggy software. Example... when I switched to Messages, the home screen remained. I would have to guess where the inbox was and touch the screen there and hope I got it right.

                              Apps very basic.

Started hanging and would have to be rebooted at least twice a day.

Finally gave it up in disgust.

Shifted to my first iphone, a 3gs. Loved it. What a relief after the N97. Everything just happened as it should. the screen a delight to use. Not the repeated finger-sweeping reqd on the N97. Never froze. Lovely apps. Not childish... really useful.

OK, the camera could be better. Loved the one on the N958GB.

iphone disappoints in a few areas...

                              - the camera
                              - alerts on receiving messages too soft
                              - alerts on calender too soft (v dependent on this)

                              But love it.

It will be long time before I go back to a Nokia.

I like reading all your post. Me being nokia fan from day one only got one comment. Nokia is dying. Mini pricing positioning is out else perhap it will be the next cash cow for nokia. 5800 so far is the best selling for Nokia till now sold for a cool 8 to 9 million unit. 5800 got all the feature expect for a POOR CAMERA performance despite it 3.2 mega pix. 5800 priced at very competitive price. That why 5800 is selling like hot cake. Still going strong.
As for mini i like it better to n97 mainly for the size. N97 feel like a brick to be carry everyday.
Nokia please wake up. Your good old day since N95 day are gone. Mini for 450 euro i can get a nice laptop.
Hope Nokia can defend his market leader position. Nokia can still sell mainly because is a old brand cheap and reliable. Wake up. Wake up Nokia. You need more phone like 5800 to catch up. A nice feature phone with a well positioned price. Mini pricing is out.
