Anonymous, 15 Apr 2021If this is representative of the way the brand is going it ... moreAfter the industry wide kick in the nuts that 2020 was... everyone is a mess.
Engineering was thrown off their schedules. Supply chains are still a mess. And manufacturing needs time to get back to normal.
This is exactly what the little guys have got to do in order to survive.

If this is representative of the way the brand is going it may be the beginning of the end for HMD Global. The SD 480 isn't a terrible SOC, but nor is it competitive at the price. I see the build quality has taken another turn for the worse with this new range. It looks like the sort of thing Lenovo/Motorola knocks out for 100 quid less.

480 5g is quite powerful tho. it has same gpu as 750g 5g. Also it has 64MP Zeiss Optic, Ozo Audio, NFC and Android One 11. But i will prefer Nokia X10 for better price and design.

This phone does not have a competitive price, although its major selling points are its durability, beautiful design, and software updates security, it is still not enough to convince people to buy it (no AMOLED screen or a 90hz refresh rate panel at this price is a big turn off)

To all of the haters of this phone : actually this phone has a quite mighty processor -this Snaprdragon 480 appears that is as powerful as the 765-one in tests, so it is only the name of it, which confuses people that it is weak.....

paco2x, 13 Apr 2021So it's clear HMD won't invest time and money to ... moreNokia has been hitting the mark with me, first with the 6.3, then the 7.2, and hopefully next with one of this new crop of phones. I'd much rather two Nokias than one iPhone, especially after I had three iPhones fail in the span of just over two years. Glad they don't come with a bunch of bloatware too, even if Android now pushes a lot of it all by itself. Only regret is I have no need for 5G and would rather not pay extra or drain my battery faster for it. With their prices as reasonable as they are I'd rather wait to upgrade to 5G in a year or two after the networks are (much) better rolled out. Thanks for keeping it simple and focusing on what matters most, Nokia!

Bluetooth1, 13 Apr 2021But it's still a low(er)-end SoC and it doesn't c... moreThe great that atleast they are adding latest processor to their X series which is most i liked
So going forward each X series phone will have latest processor for any range. We can wait for the price to turn down. Even we are getting 3 years warranty plus 3 years of OS upgrade means android 11-14 which is really great
Because using latest processor for higher price is better instead of older processor for higher prices.
If its not affordable we can surely wait for the price drop since we are getting latest processor.
I am really waiting for another X series phone with latest SD 600/700 series e.g X50/X60 whatever it is

So it's clear HMD won't invest time and money to develop a high end device, they are betting in the low end segment and brand recognition only... Let's see if that works.
